The Brookesmith ISD issued the following press release:

The Brookesmith Lady Mustang Junior High basketball team wrapped up an unforgettable season by finishing as Undefeated District Champions, posting a perfect 9–0 record and proving that hard work, teamwork, and determination pay off.

Throughout the season, the Lady Mustangs averaged 28 points per game, showcasing a balanced offense and a team-first mentality that made them difficult to stop.

Several players made key scoring contributions along the way. The team was led in scoring by Camrey Haby with 57 points, followed by Kelby Rice (38), Brookelynn Benson (26), and Alayna Cabrera (22).

The 2026 Brookesmith Lady Mustang Junior High roster includes: #1 Kelby Rice, #2 Katie Bates, #3 Aniyah Delgado, #11 Camrey Haby, #12 Alayna Cabrera, #13 Brookelynn Benson, #14 Faylinn Cabrera, #20 Lilly Johnson, #21 Adalyn Lamb, and #33 AnnaLeigh Barnett.

Coach Isbell said, “Coaching this team has been one of the greatest joys of my career. I’ve watched these girls grow over the last three years, not just as basketball players, but as confident young women who learned how to trust themselves and each other. They were underestimated, but they never stopped believing and reaching for what they wanted. The pride I feel in this team goes far beyond wins and championships. This group has an incredibly bright future, and in many ways, this season was a truly special one in my coaching career.”
