Due to the high number of requests for tickets, a waitlist has been created for tickets to Howard Payne University’s Chris Tomlin concert on April 15. In fewer than 24 hours after the event was announced, thousands of free tickets were reserved. To be added to the waitlist, individuals or groups can visit www.hputx.edu/christomlin.

HPU will host the public for an outdoor night of worship with the Grammy-award winning musician on Wednesday, April 15, at the Brownwood Event Center’s outdoor stage. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the event beginning at 7 p.m. The concert’s presenting sponsor is Bruner Auto Family.

Those who made group reservations but no longer need their full number of tickets are requested to revise their reservation orders by emailing communications@hputx.edu.

“We are thrilled by the incredible response to our upcoming concert by Chris Tomlin,” said Dr. Cory Hines, university president. “All of us at HPU look forward to bringing this event to our community and are happy so many will be joining us in this special night of worship.”

TIME magazine heralded Chris Tomlin as the “most often sung artist in the world” as his music has inspired and uplifted an entire generation of believers. Along the way, Tomlin has scored 21 number-one singles, 30 top-ten hits (more than any other Christian artist) and spent a total of 157 weeks at number-one during his career.

He has sold more than 12 million albums with 8 billion career global streams, won a Grammy, three Billboard Music Awards, 28 Dove Awards, became a two-time BMI Songwriter of the Year honoree and an ASCAP Songwriter of the Year. In 2016, he was named one of only four artists ever to receive the Sound Exchange Digital Radio Award for over 1 billion digital radio streams, alongside Justin Timberlake, Pitbull and Garth Brooks. Tomlin is also the first Christian artist to reach the billion streams threshold on Pandora and was presented with its BILLIONAIRE award.

As one of the most successful Christian touring artists today, Tomlin has sold out venues everywhere, including New York City’s Madison Square Garden, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver and more. In 2022, he set a career attendance record with an unprecedented concert at LA’s Banc of California Stadium.
