May girls, boys remain perfect in district with sweep of Rising Star

No. 22 May Lady Tigers 90, Rising Star 19

MAY – The No. 22 May Lady Tigers achieved multiple individual career landmarks during Thursday night’s 90-19 victory over District 21-A rival Rising Star.

Lady Tiger Jordyn Gerhardt eclipsed 500 career rebounds while also scoring 45 points; Chloe Lord reached 1,000 points, 400 assists and 400 rebounds while pouring in 20 points; and McKenna Landes surpassed 750 rebounds and finished with four points.

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers (24-7, 9-0) were Cortney Harper with 11 points and Lauren Hicks with 10 points.

May led 24-6 after one quarter, 49-13 at halftime, and 72-17 through three frames.

The Lady Tigers will visit Gustine at 6 p.m. Friday.

No. 17 May Tigers 72, Rising Star 45

MAY – The No. 17 May Tigers remained alone atop the District 21-A boys basketball standings with a 72-45 home victory over Rising Star Thursday.

The Tigers (17-8, 7-0) led 22-8 after the initial stanza, 51-15 at intermission, and 65-32 after three frames.

Scoring for May were Kobey Morris with 26 points, Tyran Perry with 18, Brody Stice with 16, Jackson Lusk with 10, and Kaden Watkins with two points.

The Tigers will visit Gustine at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
