The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday afternoon:
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 5:10 p.m., emergency first responders were dispatched to the 3200 block of Milam Dr., Gordon Wood Stadium, regarding a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. The caller reported that someone was sledding behind a pickup and slid under a parked pickup and was injured.
Upon arrival, officers learned that 19-year-old Jayden Michael Garcia of Brownwood was driving his 2014 single cab pickup in the parking lot. Garcia devised a rope and pallet sled and allowed people to sled behind the pickup as he drove them. At one point, while pulling a 19-year-old female rider, he lost control of his pickup, causing her to launch with great speed under a parked pickup. The female sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident.
Garcia was interviewed and ultimately arrested for the offense of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury. He was transported and held at the Brown County Jail.
