Joseph “Joe” Stephen Priester (Unc) was born in Fairmont, West Virginia to Michael Edward and Bridget Watkins Priester on May 13, 1965. Joe went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2026 with his daughters and family by his side.
Unc loved watching football (Go Packers) and talking mess about the Cowboys. Although I’m positive he secretly liked them as well. He had a love for muscle cars and pretty women but most of all his family.
Although he had a wild side back as a young buck, he showed a softer side in his later years. He was the baby of the siblings and his older sisters never let him forget it. They did their best to keep him in line.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, brother David Priester and his nephew Derek Montemayor.
He is survived by his two daughters Ashlee Metcalfe (5 grandchildren) and Felicia Cox. Sisters Londa Montemayor (Pete) and Sophia Priester. Nephews Jason Priester (Brittany) and Daniel Priester, nieces Misty and Christina, great-nephews Devon Montemayor, Marcus Priester and Graham Nix, great-nieces Brooke Montemayor, Kassi Schwartz (Marcus), Bridget Montemayor and London Priester. Great-great- nieces Lizabeth, Lucy and Livia. Joe is also survived by his cats that he adored: Gia, Monster Cat, Smokey Joe and Baby.
In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to Brown County Humane Society (Corinne T. Smith Animal Center).
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the amazing staff at HMC – Brownwood (ICU & Emergency Department), Tanja Morgan and Dr. David Morales for the care of Joseph over the last few years, but especially in his last days.
Unc – we will miss your gruff voice (“I know, Right?”) (“Dangit Girl”) and your life of the party personality.
Rest easy Unc.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Brownwood Funeral Home. Arrangements entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home.
