Bangs Middle School has been selected by the Texas Education Agency as one of just 30 campuses across Region 15 to host the TEA Mobile STEM Lab, a distinction earned from a pool of more than 150 eligible schools campuses. The selection places Bangs Middle School among a small group recognized for its readiness to expand hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics instruction—and for its potential to spark student interest in high-demand career pathways.
The TEA Mobile STEM Lab is designed to bring cutting-edge, project-based learning directly to students. Outfitted with modern tools and resources, the lab allows students to engage in real-world problem solving, from engineering design challenges to coding and data analysis. For campuses like Bangs Middle School, the lab represents both an opportunity and a responsibility: to deepen STEM learning in ways that are relevant, rigorous and accessible.

STEM education has become a cornerstone of public schooling as Texas—and the nation—faces a growing demand for workers skilled in critical thinking, innovation and technology. Careers in healthcare, energy, manufacturing, agriculture and information technology increasingly rely on STEM competencies. Introducing these skills at the middle school level is especially important, educators say, because it is when students begin forming lasting interests and confidence in academic subjects, stated David Garcia, Bangs ISD’s Director of Operations.

Mr. Garcia stated that the STEM Lab will be on the Bangs Middle School Campus on Jan. 21st and Jan 22nd with a Family Night Out on Jan. 22nd from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
