Our beloved mother, Nina, and friend, Rita Virginia Knight Tharp Osborne, age 78, of Arlington, went to be with Jesus on January 10, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Heartland Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas.

Virginia was born on August 13, 1947, in Brownwood, Texas, to Jackie and Leonard Knight. In June 1964, she married Johnnie Ray Tharp, with whom she would later have two children, Brandon and Tara. She attended and graduated from Brownwood High School in 1965. In the early 1970s, she owned and operated a daycare in Brownwood, Texas, called Pooh’s Corner. She attended Howard Payne University for three years and finished her Bachelor of Science degree at Texas Wesleyan University in 1979. Her teaching certification included studies in Kindergarten-Eighth Grade Education, English as Second Language, and Elementary Art. In the 1980s, she obtained her realtor license and worked for Century 21, where she became a top producer as a million-dollar sales agent. In April 2001, Virginia married her second husband, James Osborne. They enjoyed 24 years of marriage. Their union extended her family with his children and grandchildren. She retired from teaching with the Arlington Independent School District in 2009. Virginia was a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. Her family held a very special place in her heart.

Virginia is survived by her husband, James Osborne; her son, Brandon Tharp, and wife Joanna; daughter, Tara Hix, and husband Joe; six grandchildren, Jordan P. Ebeling (Tharp), Katie Tharp, Macy N. Zell (Tharp), Landry Hix, Lexy Hix, and Heather Hix; five great-grandchildren, Hylee Ebeling, Bowman Zell, Emmalynn Hix, Cayden Hix, and Theodore Hix; sisters, Natalie Knight Jones, Sonjia Knight, Winnie Kilts, and Nelda Allen; brothers, Billy Hagler and Lynn Knight; niece, Ashton Jones; and sisters-in-law, Sherry Tharp and Denise Tharp.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Jackie Knight; sister, Carol Knight; grandparents, Tom and Ila Zagorski; and her first husband of 36 years, Johnnie Tharp.
