Cindy Jane Hedden, born on June 22, 1960, in Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, in Coleman, Texas. She was known for her joyful spirit, infectious smile, and a heart full of love that extended to everyone she encountered. Cindy was a beacon of happiness, never meeting a stranger, and embraced life with an unparalleled zest.

Cindy grew up in Abilene and moved to Mozelle while in her teens. She has lived in the woods of East Texas as well as Youngstown, Ohio. She returned to Texas once again, living in Rotan and finally Coleman.

Cindy’s enthusiasm for music and the arts drew her into joyful pastimes. She often put on small concerts for her family, a favored activity that brought together her loved ones in moments of shared bliss. Her musical adventures often included attending concerts with her sister, where they would eagerly seek autographs from the artists. Her love for music was accompanied by a passion for dancing and singing, which defined her vibrant personality.

Beyond her musical interests, Cindy indulged in various hobbies, including coloring, watching television, writing, and reading. She had a vivid imagination and was always dreaming of new places to visit and new people to meet. One of her greatest aspirations was to marry and own a bakery, reflecting her nurturing spirit and love for sharing with others.

Cindy had a fondness for nature, illustrated by her proudest accomplishment of enjoying a memorable fishing trip for walleye in Canada. Despite having been born with Down’s Syndrome, her life was filled with accomplishments and cherished moments, creating a deeply engaging and fulfilling existence.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her siblings: Jerilyn Moore and her husband Chris of Coleman; Gavaun Hedden and his wife Carol of Abilene; and Galaird Elbert “Gig” Hedden and his wife Kerri of Mozelle. She was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, who benefited from her nurturing demeanor and endless affection. Moreover, her friends and church family at Hords Creek Cowboy Church will miss her warmth and joyful presence.

Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Gavaun Ansel “Dick” Hedden and Vera May Fiveash Hedden, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Jacquelyn and Richard Lutz.

A funeral service to honor Cindy Jane Hedden will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Stevens Funeral Home chapel, 400 West Pecan Street in Coleman, beginning at 2:30 p.m. with Seth Moore, pastor of Hords Creek Cowboy Church, officiating. The family looks forward to gathering in celebration of her life and the joy she brought to all who knew her. A private family burial will take place at the Gouldbusk Cemetery, where Cindy will be laid to rest next to her parents.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial donations in memory of Cindy can be made to Hords Creek Cowboy Church, 3851 Hwy 153, Coleman, Texas.

We invite you to share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with the Hedden family by signing the guestbook on Cindy’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hedden family.
