The Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday:

This month’s spotlight teacher is Guadalupe Vazquez. Ms. Vazquez is an Algebra teacher at Brownwood High School (BHS). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with a secondary major in Spanish from Howard Payne University, where she graduated with honors. She is a proud BHS graduate (2007, top 5%, Cum Laude) and is a state-certified teacher (Mathematics 8-12). This is her 14th year with Brownwood ISD.

Ms. Vazquez is one of a kind, and we are so grateful for her work at BHS. She has the special ability to connect with everyone who comes into her room. She builds relationships and utilizes those genuine connections help kids desire to do their very best. Students work hard for Ms. Vazquez, and her ability to help students grow shows in the lasting relationships she builds. It is exciting to see former students come back to visit and ask to see their math teacher!

Brownwood ISD is blessed to have teachers like Ms. Vazquez who combine academic excellence with a genuine heart for connecting with and inspiring the students they teach.

Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Erin Aguillon. Ms. Aguillon is a Pre-K Teacher’s Aide at Woodland Heights Elementary. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and is a state-certified Educational Aide. This is her fourth year with Brownwood ISD.

Ms. Aguillon is truly a gift to work alongside. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication shine through in everything she does. She has an incredible ability to see each child for who they are, embracing both their strengths and their struggles, and guiding them with patience and love. She brings joy and creativity into the classroom through thoughtful art projects— often leaving a trail of glitter behind—and pours her heart into her work each day. Ms. Aguillon’s deep love for the children is evident in every interaction, and she is cherished not only by her students, but by everyone fortunate enough to work with her.

Brownwood ISD is thankful to have staff members like Ms. Aguillon who go above and beyond to provide steady comfort and structure while maintaining a calming presence that makes children feel safe and understood.
