
In the midst of a 12-game win streak, the Brownwood Lady Lions have cracked the Top 10 in the most recent Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 4A girls rankings.
The Lady Lions (20-3), who open District 6-4A action against Mineral Wells at 5:45 p.m. Friday at Warren Gym, are ranked No. 9 in the state this week.
The rest of the 4A girls Top 10 includes No. 1 Decatur (20-4), No. 2 Canyon (16-2), No. 3 Sunnyvale (18-4), No. 4 Manor New Tech (20-2), No. 5 Brock (16-5), No. 6 Dallas Lincoln (12-8), No. 7 Bridge City (19-2), No. 8 Waco La Vega (12-11), and No. 10 Houston Wheatley (13-2).
Also appearing in the 4A girls poll are No. 14 Lubbock Cooper-Liberty, which defeated Brownwood earlier this season, and No. 25 La Vernia, which suffered a loss against the Lady Lions.
In the Class A girls rankings, Brookesmith (12-2) comes in at No. 17 this week, while on the Class A boys side May (10-8) is ranked No. 17 and Zephyr (14-6) appears at No. 25.
