May Lady Tigers 67, Rising Star 7

RISING STAR – The May Lady Tigers remained undefeated in District 21-A basketball action with a 67-7 road victory over Rising Star Friday.

May (18-6, 3-0) led 22-2 after one period, 44-4 at intermission, and 54-4 heading to the fourth quarter.

Chloe Lord and Jordyn Gerhardt paced the Lady Tigers with 23 points each followed by Lauren Hicks with 10, McKenna Landes and Cortney Harper with four apiece, and Aubree Gerhardt with three points.

The Lady Tigers next host Gustine at 11 a.m. Monday

May Tigers 58, Rising Star 21

RISING STAR – The May Tigers started District 21-A action Friday by snapping a six-game skid with a 54-21 victory at Rising Star.

May (10-8, 1-0) jumped ahead 16-9 after one quarter, lead 28-9 at halftime, and carried a 45-14 cushion into the fourth period.

Kobey Morris 16 points for the Tigers followed by Brody Stice with 14, Tyran Perry with eight, Kaden Watkins and Jackson Lusk with seven apiece, Kaiden Adams with four, and Mikey Scheriger with two points.

The Tigers next host Gustine at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Zephyr Bulldogs 83, Mullin 16

MULLIN – The Zephyr Bulldogs dominated Mullin by a 83-16 count in the District 25-A basketball opener Friday night.

The Bulldogs (14-6, 1-0) led 26-4 after one quarter, 39-13 at halftime, and 64-14 through three periods.

Reese Hamm paced the Bulldogs with 20 points trailed by Quayde Heard with 12, Troy Kubin with 11, Bauer Blair with 10, CJ Byers with seven , Ethan Prochaska with six, Cooper Walls with five, Slade Butler with four, and Chayden Woodcock with two points.

The Bulldogs next face Lometa home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lometa 24, Brookesmith Lady Mustangs 21

LOMETA – The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class A No. 16 Brookesmith Lady Mustangs suffered a 24-21 road loss to Lometa in District 25-A basketball action Friday night.

Brookesmith was down 8-2 after one quarter and 13-7 halftime, but carried a 15-13 lead into the fourth period.

Scoring for the Lady Mustangs were Brooklyn Haby with 15 points, Ameriah Balleza with four, and Ava Hathcock with two points.

The Lady Mustangs next host Cherokee Tuesday.

Sterling City 67, Zephyr Lady Bulldogs 29

STERLING CITY – Playing a non-district contest due to the Mullin girls forfeiting the rest of their season, the Zephyr Lady Bulldogs were dealt a 67-29 road defeat by Sterling City Friday.

Zephyr trailed 23-13 after one quarter, 32-25 at halftime, and 42-27 heading to the fourth period.

Scoring for Zephyr were Kenlyn King with 11 points, Avery Stevens with six, Kirstan King with five, Riley Hood, Sydnee Simpson and Sydney Hobson with two apiece, and Calyn Kubin with one point.

The Lady Bulldogs are next slated to host Lometa at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
