Jayden Robinson (5) scored 29 points for Bangs in a 70-64 overtime win over Early. Results for the Bangs boys and girls, Early boys and girls, Zephyr girls and boys, May girls, Goldthwaite boys, Richland Springs boys and the Brownwood JV boys included.

Bangs Dragons 70, Early Longhorns 64 (OT)

In a back and forth battle of bitter Brown County rivals, the Bangs Dragons prevailed in overtime, 70-64, over the Early Longhorns Tuesday at the Brownwood Middle School in Boys Silver Division action.

Bangs led Early 13-12 after one quarter, the Longhorns took a 32-26 lead at halftime, and the Dragons were down 41-39 after three periods. The game was tied at 55 at the end of regulation, where Bangs owned a 15-9 scoring advantage.

For the Dragons, Jayden Robinson scored 29 points trailed by Ryan Alqorum with 18, Braxton Wommack with 15, Brennen Mendieta with five, and Kason Klutts with three points.

The Longhorns received 21 points from Zack Rumfield, 13 from Ian Desai, 10 from Dayton Zamora, nine from Skyden Stoddart, five from Braiden Brown, and two points apiece from Isaac Ybarra, Darryl Watkins, and Rhett Williams.

On Wednesday, Bangs will square off with Dublin at noon at the Auxiliary Gym, while Early will clash with Cisco at 9:20 a.m. at Brownwood Middle School.

Early Lady Horns 44, Fort Worth Nolan Catholic 36 (OT)

The Early Lady Horns needed an extra session, but notched their first victory at the TexasBank Holiday Classic, 44-36 over Fort Worth Nolan Catholic Tuesday at the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Horns trailed 13-4 after one quarter, 21-17 at halftime, and 30-28 heading to the fourth period, where the knotted the score at 36 at the end of regulation.

Early scorers included Aliyah Harlan and Cali Vargas with nine points apiece, Abby Ferguson and Andie Simpson with eight points each, and Avery Williams and Gabby Benson both with five points.

For Nolan Catholic, 10 finished with 24 points.

The Lady Horns are set to face Childress at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Warren Gym and Ozona at 1:20 p.m. at the Brownwood Middle School.

Goldthwaite Eagles 74, Early Longhorns 47

The second day of TexasBank Holiday Classic action at the Brownwood High Auxiliary Gym started with the Goldthwaite Eagles’ 74-47 triumph over the Early Longhorns.

Goldthwaite led Early 19-5 after one quarter, 37-16 at halftime, and 56-31 heading to the fourth period.

The Eagles were sparked by 13 points from Aidyn Lee, 12 from Wilson Grebe, 10 from Talen Gardner, eight from Zach Rodriguez, seven from Hayes Greenway, six from Drew Bristol, five from both Blake Howard and Landry Sanderson, three from Jacob Leverett, and two points each from Luke Patrick and Ben Wetzig.

The Longhorns received 15 points from Dayton Zamora, 14 from Zack Rumfield, six from Ian Desai, five from Braedyn Peek, four from Cooper Shults, two from Aidan Melton, and one point from Angel Marquez.

Goldthwaite, which later defeated Wellington, 57-52, on Tuesday, will face Little River Academy at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Brownwood Coliseum.

May Lady Tigers 58, Cayuga 31

The May Lady Tigers upended Cayuga, 58-31, Tuesday in Girls Small School Division action at the TexasBank Holiday Classic.

The Lady Tigers trailed 11-9 after one quarter, but took control in the second period and led 34-12 at halftime, and 47-26 after three frames.

Scoring for May were Jordyn Gerhardt with 36 points trailed by Chloe Lord with eight, Cortney Harper with five, Lauren Hicks with four, McKenna Landes with three, and Aubree Gerhardt with two points.

Cayuga received 16 points from Graci Satterwhite.

The Lady Tigers meet Dublin at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday at Brownwood Middle School.

Brownwood JV Lions 70, Richland Springs Coyotes 40

Tied at 16 after one quarter and 27 at halftime, the Brownwood JV Lions outscored Richland Springs 43-13 in the second half for a 70-40 victory in the Boys Bronze Division action at the Brownwood High School Auxiliary Gym.

The JV Lions scored 23 points to the five of Richland Springs in the third period, and continued to expand on the lead.

Scoring for Brownwood were Connor Cornelius with 17 points, Juston Burt with 15, Carter Massey and Cooper Massey with nine each, Diondre Watkins with six, Judah Hamilton and Landry Ross with four apiece, Donovyn York with three, Jose Garza with two, and Hayden Fulkersin with one point.

Richland Springs received 15 points each from Cohen Ethridge and Eli Hutchins, five from Layne Ward, three from Christian McKinnerney, and two points from Ian McKinnerney.

The Brownwood JV plays Lingleville at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Auxiliary Gym, while Richland Springs’ tournament stay is over.

Cayuga 47, Zephyr Lady Bulldogs 37

The Zephyr Lady Bulldogs were again denied their first victory at the TexasBank Holiday Classic as they dropped a 47-37 decision to Cayuga Tuesday morning at Warren Gym.

Zephyr trailed 15-13 after one frame, 29-17 at intermission, and 32-28 heading to the fourth period.

Scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Avery Stevens with 11 points, Kenlyn King and Calyn Kubin with eight each, Kirstan King with six, and Riley Hood and Sydney Hobson with two points apiece.

Cayuga was led by 15 points from Graci Satterwhite,

The Lady Bulldogs play again at 8 a.m. Wednesday against Plains at the Auxiliary Gym and at 4 p.m. against Coleman at Warren Gym.

Wellington 59, Bangs Dragons 52

The Bangs Dragons were unable to hang on in the second half of their second game at the TexasBank Holiday Classic Tuesday morning, falling to Wellington, 59-52.

Down 19-11 after one quarter, the Dragons took a 28-26 halftime advantage and carried a 40-35 lead into the final stanza.

Bangs received 18 points from Jayden Robinson, 17 from Ryan Alqorum, 12 from Braxton Wommack, three from Heath Laughlin, and two points from Kason Klutts.

For Wellington, Jimmy Cantu scored a game-high 25 points while Cix Killian added 10 points.

Breckenridge 26, Bangs Lady Dragons 19

In their closest outing of the TexasBank Holiday Classic, the Bangs Lady Dragons dropped a 26-19 decision to Breckenridge Tuesday night.

Bangs led 4-2 after one quarter but fell behind 12-6 at halftime and trailed 21-11 heading to the fourth period.

The Lady Dragons received 13 points from Justice Baker, five points from Ashlynn Sliger and one point from Adalynne Stephens.

Breckenridge was sparked by seven points from Preslie Malcuit and five each from Lakyla Bartley and Paisley Thibodeuax.

The game at halftime was moved from Warren Gym to the Auxiliary Gym at the high school, following the completion of Tuesday’s schedule of games at the Auxiliary Gym. A water leak discovered in the ceiling before the start of the first game Tuesday at Warren Gym resulted in water consistently dripping on the court throughout the day without resolution as multiple persons were tasked with keeping the floor dry while contests were being played.

The Bangs Lady Dragons face Fort Worth Nolan Catholic at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Brownwood Middle School.
