LINCOLN, Nebraska – Howard Payne secured a 96-91 road victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in a back-and-forth contest at Snyder Arena on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets trailed by five at the half but rallied in the second half with balanced scoring and timely contributions from their key players.

Senior guard Armonie Ramey led the charge with a team-high 29 points, going 10-of-21 from the field and 8-of-9 at the free-throw line while adding six rebounds, five assists and four steals. With his scoring performance, Ramey surpassed 1,500 career points, marking a significant milestone in his Howard Payne career.

Junior guard Jordan McClendon had a strong all-around game, finishing with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, hitting two three-pointers and pulling down five rebounds. Ben Phillip also made a big impact, scoring 18 points with six rebounds and knocking down four of seven from behind the arc.

Trey Jackson contributed 13 points and six rebounds, while Jackson Tomlin added eight points, four assists and one steal to help sustain the team’s offensive flow. Jaime Puentes chipped in five points off the bench, and Avant Coleman and Carter May provided secondary scoring to round out the balanced attack.

After falling behind by five at intermission, Howard Payne outscored Nebraska Wesleyan in the second half to take and hold the lead, closing out the win through aggressive defense and efficient shooting down the stretch.

The Yellow Jackets improve their record to 11-4 and will look to build on this effort as they continue their season on January 4th vs Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.
