Reese Hamm (22) scored 10 points for the Zephyr Bulldogs in their 69-40 win over the Brownwood JV boys

Zephyr Bulldogs 69, Brownwood JV 40

The Zephyr Bulldogs won their tournament opener 69-40 over the Brownwood JV Monday and will next face De Leon at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Brownwood Coliseum in the Boys Bronze Division.

Zephyr led 18-11 after one quarter, 32-21 at halftime, and 52-33 heading to the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs received 19 points from Bauer Blair, 16 from Spencer Marwitz, 10 each from Reese Hamm and Cooper Walls, seven from CY Byers, and six points from Troy Kubin.

Brownwood was led by 11 points from Carter Massey and nine from Juston Burt.

The JV Lions face Richland Springs at noon Tuesday in the high school auxiliary gym.

Bangs Dragons 62, Cisco 57

The Bangs Dragons erased an 11-point third-quarter deficit to defeat the Cisco Loboes, 62-57, in the Boys Silver Division at the TexasBank Holiday Classic Monday at Warren Gym.

Down 24-23 at halftime, the Dragons allowed the first 10 points of the third period. Facing a 34-23 deficit, Bangs stormed from behind and took a 47-40 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Ryan Alqorum paced Bangs with 28 points followed by 15 from Jayden Robinson, 13 from Braxton Wommack, four from Heath Laughlin, and two points from Kason Klutts.

The Dragons next face Wellington at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday at Warren Gym.

May Lady Tigers 60, Coleman 46

Whiteface 64, May Lady Tigers 23

The May Lady Tigers opened play in the Girls Small School Division with a 60-46 win over Coleman, then fell to Whiteface, 64-23.

In the win over Coleman, May led 15-6 after one quarter, 30-22 at halftime, and 44-32 through three frame.

Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Chloe Lord with 19 points, Jordyn Gerhardt with 18, Cortney Harper with seven, Aubree Gerhardt with six, and McKenna Landes and Lauren Hicks both with five points.

Coleman received 14 points from Karley Hale, 11 points from Addilyn Dawson, nine from Brynley Rae, and eight points from Lily Norris.

Information from the May-Whiteface game was not available.

Maine-Endwell, NY 55, Early Lady Horns 39

Buffalo 37, Early Lady Horns 27

The Early Lady Horns, competing in Pool B of the City of Early draw in the Girls Small School Division of the TexasBank Holiday Classic, on Monday fell to Class 3A No. 3 Buffalo, 37-27, and Maine-Endwell from New York state, 55-39.

Against Buffalo, the Lady Horns were led by seven points each from Gabby Benson and Avery Williams, five from Andie Simpson, three each from Kayleigh Torrez and Abby Ferguson, and two points from Cali Vargas.

Buffalo’s Victoria Brooks scored a game-high 14 points.

Versus Maine-Endwell, Williams scored 11 points trailed by Simpson with eight, Ferguson with seven, Benson with six, Aliyah Harlan with three, and Torrez and Cassidy Frerichs with two points apiece.

Bre Butler scored 15 points to pace Maine-Endwell.

The Lady Horns are slated to face Fort Worth Nolan Catholic at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Little River-Academy 78, Early Longhorns 57

Competing in the Boys Silver Division, the Early Longhorns suffered a 78-57 loss to the Little River-Academy Bumblebees in their TexasBank Holiday Classic opener.

The Longhorns were down 21-14 after one quarter, 39-26 at intermission, and 63-38 through three frames.

Scoring for Early were Zack Rumfield with 17 points trailed by Dayton Zamora with 12, Braiden Brown and Rhett Williams with seven apiece, Cooper Shults and Braedyn Peek with three each, Angel Marquez, Ian Desai and Darryl Watkins all with two points, and Andrew Reedy and Aidan Melton with one point apiece.

The Longhorns meet Goldthwaite at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Brownwood High School Auxiliary Gym.

Ozona 58, Bangs Lady Dragons 11

Hamilton 69, Bangs Lady Dragons 4

The Bangs Lady Dragons were defeated by Hamilton, 69-4, and Ozona, 58-11, in their first two games Monday at the TexasBank Holiday Classic.

Against Ozona, Justice Baker finished with five points for Bangs along with three from Adalynne Stephens, two from Ashlynn Sliger, and one point from Kylee Newton.

Information was not available from the Hamilton game.

The Lady Dragons will meet Breckenridge at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday at Warren Gym.
