ALVARADO – The Brownwood Lady Lions soccer team came up on the short end of a 3-2 decision in Monday’s season-opening match against Alvarado.

The Lady Lions received goals from Madison Weckwerth, with an assist from Kynlie Lewis, and Kynlee Jefferson, who also found the back of the net.

The Lady Lions (0-1) will be back in action Friday against Waco Connally and Saturday against Hillsboro and Robinson at the Gatesville tournament.

The Brownwood Lions, meanwhile, kick off their regular season at 3 p.m. Friday when they host Godley at Gordon Wood Stadium.
