
The Class 4A No. 12 Brownwood Lady Lions pushed their win streak to a season-best six games with a 50-35 home victory over Class 5A No. 10 Abilene Wylie Friday afternoon at Warren Gym.
Tied at 5 after one quarter, the Lady Lions (14-3) opened a 17-10 halftime advantage over Wylie (14-4) that grew to 39-25 heading into the fourth period.
Trinity Roberts paced Brownwood with 14 points followed by 11 each from Jade Morin and Nylah Hall, seven from Icess Hall, four from Demayha Hooker, and three points from Jentry Coalson.
Brownwood shot 41 percent (16 of 39) from the field, 35 percent (7 of 20) from three-point land, and 78 percent (11 of 14) at the free throw line.
The Lady Lions overcame 19 turnovers by pulling down 19 rebounds, with 10 on the offensive end, and recording 12 steals.
Brownwood will play its final contest before Christmas on Monday at 12:15 p.m. when it battles Class 6A Odessa Permian at Sterling City.
