The Bangs Dragons, who finished third in the District 5-2A Division I football standings, were well represented on the all-district roster, which was released Thursday after district champion Hamilton went on to capture the Class 2A Division I state championship, 21-7 over Joaquin, Wednesday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The lone superlative award winner for the Dragons was offensive lineman Jace Duncan, who was voted the 5-2A Division I Newcomer of the Year. Duncan helped pave the way for an offense that averaged 32 points and 311 total yards – 237 rushing and 74 passing – per game.

First-team selections on offense included Cason Tidwell, who rushed for 1,490 yards and 21 touchdowns and caught nine passes for 103 yards; tight end Ryan Alqorum, who caught two passes for 61 yards; and linemen Damien Hudspeth and Kian Kelley.

Making the first-team defense for the Dragons were Tidwell at linebacker, with 105 tackles, 14 for loss, 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 interception; Alqorum at defensive end, with 54 tackles, 20 for loss, and 11 sacks; defensive tackle Joaquin Rubio, with 40 tackles, 12 for loss, 3 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries; and safety Connor Bible, with 30 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery.

Landing on the second-team offense were running back Eliseo Rivas (374 rushing yards, 3 TDs; 5-16, 1 TD receiving); quarterback Hunter Withers (577 passing yards, 8 TDs, 8 INTs; 3 rushing TDs); Bible at receiver (16-337, 6 TDs receiving); and linemen Caleb Wagner and Roy Duron.

Chosen for the second-team defense were Rivas at safety (60 tackles, 8 for loss), utility player Rex Guerrero (23 tackles, 2 for loss); defensive end Heath Laughlin (29 tackles, 11 for loss, 6 sacks); linebacker Jaxon Duncan (58 tackles, 4 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery); safety Brennan Mendieta (28 tackles, 3 fumble recoveries); and cornerback Jayden Robinson (33 tackles, 5 passes broken up).

The Dragons posted a 6-5 overall record, 3-2 in league play, and made the playoffs in their second season under head coach Colton Buzzard.
