Lewis Lavan Bowland, a beloved figure in the hearts of those who knew him, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Born on March 11, 1940, in Coleman, Texas, Lewis grew up in the same town and graduated from Coleman High School in 1958. He furthered his education at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, laying a foundation that would guide him throughout his life.

Lewis dedicated many years to his career, starting as a sales associate for Nagel Manufacturing. His industrious nature eventually led him to transition back to work with his family in Fort Worth for a short while. In 1974, he took a bold step and opened K-B Contract Cleaning in Austin, where he continued to thrive until his retirement in 2015. Lewis enjoyed his work immensely and was known for his dedication and commitment to excellence.

Lewis was not only a man of skill but also of joyful spirit. His passions extended beyond the professional realm; he found great joy in fishing, coloring, and painting. He cherished time spent with his grandsons, Mason and Travis, who brought him immense happiness. Lewis had a loving personality, deeply valuing his family and friends, and his warmth will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his children, Paul Lewis Bowland of Austin, and Amy Garrett, along with her husband Chris of Dripping Springs, and his two grandsons, Mason Garrett and Travis Garrett. Lewis’ legacy lives on through his family and the cherished memories they created together.

Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Authur Bowland and Bertha Maude Smith Bowland, and his brother, T.A. Bowland. The love he shared with those around him and his unwavering support for his family remain a testament to his character.

A graveside service will be held to honor his life at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion. Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd. Austin, TX 78759

As we remember Lewis Lavan Bowland, we celebrate a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished moments, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

We invite you to share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with the Bowland family by signing the guestbook on Lewis’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bowland family.
