Chance Wayne Drake, born on April 13, 1969, in Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, at Hendrick Medical Center North in Abilene, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. The heavens opened and welcomed the most precious Angel ever. He was the epitome of love and kindness, remembered for his outgoing personality and infectious sense of humor that could brighten any room.

Chance’s education began in Lubbock, where he laid the foundation for a bright future before moving to Abilene, where he graduated from Cooper High School. Throughout his school years, he demonstrated remarkable determination and spirit, competing in the Special Olympics and winning numerous medals that highlighted his dedication and talent.

Chance had a passion for life that was evident in everything he did. One of his cherished activities was driving his bright orange Kubota, a pastime that brought him immense joy and excitement. Those who knew him will always remember the warmth he shared, featuring the best hugs that made everyone feel loved and cherished. Chance was a devoted member of South Park Church of Christ in Abilene.

Chance is preceded in death by his grandparents, Buddy and Lilly Drake and Fred and Martha Jackson. He is also preceded in death by his uncle, Fred Lane Jackson and his aunt, Iris Jo Chenault.

He is survived by his devoted parents, Cecil and Karen Drake of Abilene, who took immense pride in their son, and by his uncle, Bill Drake of Glen Cove, along with many cousins and friends that loved him dearly. The memories of Chance will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside service celebrating his remarkable life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Glen Cove Cemetery with Buzzy Andress officiating. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to Hill Resources, Inc., 1850 E. Lowden Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.
