Mavis Gene Henderson, age 88, of Brady, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025, in San Angelo. Mavis was born on February 25, 1937, in Lometa, Texas, to Ervin Taylor Lawrence and Mamie Cora (Carroll) Lawrence. She was the third child of eight children. She grew up in Lometa and moved to Brady as a teenager. She married Clifford Thaxton Henderson on November 16, 1951, in Brady at the age of fourteen. She was a hard worker and raised her family on the ranches her husband worked for. After living in the San Antonio area for 20 years she moved back to Brady, where she has lived for the last 50 years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She was an excellent seamstress, a gift that she cultivated by reading books. She was also a wonderful cook. In 1988, an automobile accident left her disabled which limited her activities greatly. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Brady and was quite firm in her beliefs. She was not one that enjoyed talking about Politics or Religion.

Graveside services for Mavis Henderson will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 2:00pm at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady with Reverend Gaylon Morris officiating. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Friends may view and/or sign Mavis Henderson’s online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.

Mavis is survived by her son Brad Henderson and his wife Kathie of Rochelle, Texas; daughter Diane Rasbury and husband Larry of Granbury, Texas; sister Patsy Douthitt of Brady, Texas; grandchildren Roger Miller, Jr., Jonathan Rasbury; step-grandchildren Ariel Bartley and Aaron Martinez; step-great-grandchildren Leleanna Blocker, Lea Mya Smith and Leilani Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, two sisters and daughter Connie Gene Everett.
