
LORENA – Knotted at 35 heading to the fourth period, the No. 13 Brownwood Lady Lions outscored host Lorena 17-12 over the final eight minutes Friday to secure a 52-47 victory, their second win in three outings at the Lorena tournament.
Leading 10-9 after one quarter, the Lady Lions (9-3) were up 25-22 at halftime, only for 4A Lorena (7-3) to even the score at 35 after three frames.
The Lady Lions shot 40 percent (18 of 47) from the floor, 36 percent (4 of 11) on three-pointers, and 43 percent (10 of 23) on free throws. Brownwood pulled down 27 rebounds and tallied 12 steals to go along with 14 turnovers.
Trinity Roberts scored a game-high 19 points for Brownwood followed by eight each from Nylah Hall, Jade Morin, and Hannah Deen, five from Icess Hall, and two apiece from Abby Brasher and Jentry Coalson.
The Lady Lions wrap up tournament play at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against Class 6A Hutto.
