
LORENA – The Class 4A No. 13 Brownwood Lady Lions rebounded from just their second loss of the season with a resounding 60-29 victory over Class 5A College Station to kick off Lorena tournament action Thursday morning.
Brownwood shot 44 percent (21 of 48) from the field, including 45 percent (9 of 20) from three-point land, and drained 64 percent (9 of 14) of its free throws.
The Lady Lions also recorded 24 rebounds and 14 steals, and turned over the ball just nine times.
Brownwood led College Station (6-4) by a 15-7 count after one quarter, 34-14 at halftime, and 51-29 after three frames.
Nylah Hall poured in 19 points followed by 18 from Trinity Roberts, five each from Jade Morin and Icess Hall, four apiece from Hannah Deen, Jentry Coalson, and Demayha Hooker, and one point from Lanie Johnson.
The Lady Lions (8-2) are slated to face Lubbock Cooper Liberty at 7 p.m. tonight, then meet tournament host Lorena at 2:30 p.m. Friday and Hutto at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
