Emily Rayne Smith, affectionately known as “Emmy Rayne,” 24, of Coleman, Texas, passed away on December 1, 2025, while undergoing her third heart transplant. Born on August 20, 2001, in Fort Worth, Texas, Emily was the beloved daughter of Natalie Van Noy and cherished sister of Ethan Van Noy.

Emily is survived by her maternal grandparents, Janice “Tata” Schwanke and Kirk Schwanke.

She also leaves behind her paternal grandparents, Mandy (Grandy) Byas and husband Charles, Grandfather Mark Smith.

The family circle encompasses many aunts and uncles, including Laura “Lala” Van Noy, Jr. Schwanke and Carly Schwanke, Chris and Mandy Schwanke, Justin and Lacy Schwanke, and Jennifer and Bobby Bailey, along with numerous cousins, Alice, Dorothy, Slade, Parker Schwanke, and Stetson and Brooke Bailey.

Emily is preceded in death by her sister, Shayde Elizabeth Smith, whose memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Emily had a sweet and loving nature, a witty sense of humor, and a determination that never wavered. She found joy in simple pleasures—gaming with friends, antique shopping, creating arts and crafts, and spending time with her mother, whom she adored

A celebration of Emily’s life will be Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at RLVenue, 415 S. Commercial Avenue, in Coleman. In celebrating Emily, please wear something pink and colorful to honor her. Though her time on earth was brief, her strength and spirit will live forever in the hearts she touched.

God called your name so softly.

That only you could hear

And no one heard the footsteps.

Of angels drawing near.

The golden gates stood open,

God saw you needed rest

His garden must be beautiful,

He only takes the best.

Memorials are requested with gratitude to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at www.donate.childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
