Rising Star ISD Superintendent Monty Jones shared the following information on the Rising Star Wildcats Facebook page Thursday:
At approximately 5:30AM this morning, 11/20, an individual scaled our fence and broke into a door leading into the secondary building . While inside, this individual tried to gain access to several classroom doors; however, he was unsuccessful except for some minor damage to the restrooms. Two maintenance workers and the superintendent were onsite at the time the individual was on campus. The superintendent came in contact with the perpetrator and demanded he leave campus. As he was exiting the premises, the superintendent immediately called 911 and reported the situation. A short time later the individual was arrested at CEFCO while attempting to do damage to the store.
All buildings and classrooms were checked and cleared before students arrived on campus. No other unwanted individuals or damage was apparent. All other doors and windows were found locked and secured. Since the individual was arrested before school started, school is proceeding as normal.
