This year, HPU’s goal is to raise a total of $750,000 through the support of at least 400 alumni and friends

Howard Payne University will participate in GivingTuesday on Dec. 2. The event, held the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is a global day of giving that unites people, communities and organizations to celebrate generosity and raise support for non-profit organizations.

This year, HPU’s goal is to raise a total of $750,000 through the support of at least 400 alumni and friends. The university is seeking support for all areas of need, including the Howard Payne Fund, student scholarships, campus improvements, academic programming, athletics and more.

“We have been so grateful for the generosity of the HPU Family on GivingTuesday for the last several years,” said Dr. Dale Meinecke, vice president for advancement. “Supporters can give this year to several projects that will have a tremendous impact on our students and campus.”

One of the key new building initiatives on campus is an Austin Ave.-Main St. HPU Welcome Corner, which will be the first introduction people see when they arrive on campus.

This year, two generous supporters have offered matching gifts. A $50,000 gift for the Yellow Jacket Club will match each team’s fundraising $1 for $1. This allows supporters to double the value of each gift given to an HPU Yellow Jacket team. A $100,000 gift given will match gifts to campus improvements for projects like the corner project and renovations for nursing classrooms.

“We have been praying about this day for many months and look forward to all God will do through the generosity of our alumni and friends,” said Dr. Cory Hines, university president. “Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference in the lives of our students as we seek to provide quality, Christ-centered education here in the heart of Texas.”

Visit www.hputx.edu/givingtuesday leading up to Tuesday, Dec. 2, to learn more and to help support HPU and its students. Interested supporters may make a financial contribution to HPU at any time at www.hputx.edu/give.
