HPU’s School of Education and Fine Arts will present the Jazz Ensemble in concert on Monday, November 17, at 7:30 p.m. in L.J. Mims Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
“This concert caps a fun and busy semester for the Jazz Ensemble,” said Stephen Goacher, director of the Jazz Ensemble and professor of music at HPU. “Since the third week of this semester, they have presented programs for three significant civic events in Brownwood, Comanche, and on our campus, requiring three different sets of repertoire. The students enjoy making music together so much that they began self-directed weekly jam sessions last summer continuing into this semester with a jam session in the band room every Wednesday evening. This concert will create an exciting evening for the students and their fans.”
Students participating in the Jazz Ensemble are Paul Adams, sophomore music education major; Victoriano Cooper, senior biomedical science and music major with piano concentration; Reagan Cottle, sophomore music education major; Tyler Craft, sophomore computer information systems and Academy major; Jackson Fiese, freshman youth ministry major; Tyrone Fisher, freshman music major; Matthew Frazier, sophomore computer information systems major; Chance Harmon, senior music education major; Jayden Kennamer, sophomore Bible major; John Klinkovsky-Spence, senior music education major; and Aaron Smith, freshman music education major.
