On Friday, November 7th, the Brown County Farm Bureau hosted its annual Ag Day at Coggin Elementary in Brownwood. Over 250 sixth-grade students had the chance to experience agriculture up close — learning where their food and fiber come from and discovering the many ways agriculture impacts their daily lives.

Students rotated through ten interactive stations, each offering a hands-on look at a different part of agriculture:

  • Livestock Fencing, demonstrated by Jay Clark
  • Veterinary Demonstration, demonstrated by Dr. Logan Speck
  • Rainfall Simulator, demonstrated by Shiner Webb and Matthew Coffman with Texas Grazing Land Coalition
  • Sheep, demonstrated by Trey Glasscock, asstd by FFA officer Shari Ray
  • Texas Wildlife – Game Wardens Travis Allen & Brad Reeves
  • Corn, demonstrated by FFA officers Cyndea Wilson & Abi Kuhn, asstd by Josh Beaty
  • Cotton, demonstrated by FFA officers Hannah Deen & Jaycee Morton, asstd by Josh Beaty & Donald Krause
  • Agriculture Drones, demonstrated by Jeff Johnson, Colton Davis & Steve Davis with L&R Aerial Services
  • Swine, demonstrated by Warren Tongate & Colby Ferguson (Executive Director Tx Pork Producers), assisted by FFA officer Montanna Ramsey
  • Cattle, demonstrated by FFA officers Madison Moseley & Cate Smith, assisted by Scott Anderson

A big thank you to all our presenters, volunteers, and teachers who made this event a success — and to Central Texas Farm Credit for providing lunch for our speakers, volunteers, teachers, and staff!

Events like Ag Day help students connect the dots between the classroom and the farm, inspiring curiosity and respect for the people who grow and care for our food, fiber, and natural resources.
