May 51, Jonesboro 6

JONESBORO – The Class A Division I No. 3 May Tigers won their first district championship since 2021 as they clobbered the Jonesboro Eagles, 51-6, Friday night.

May clinched the District 14-A Division I crown behind Lane Goodson’s 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns, 68 passing yards and another score, and 20 yards receiving. Cayson Dail added 103 passing yards and a pair of touchdown tosses and 30 yards receiving.

Jackson Lusk contributed 83 receiving yards and a touchdown; Kobey Morris notched 38 receiving yards and one touchdown with 34 yards on the ground; Brody Stice caught a 21-yard pass; and Kaden Watkins rushed for a 2-yard touchdown.

Defensively for the Tigers, Goodson and Mikey Scheriger recorded five tackles each; Kayden Psencik and Maddix Raffel logged three tackles apiece; and Lusk, Morris and Watkins notched two tackles each. Lusk also pounced on a fumble and Watkins picked off a pass.

Next week, May faces District 13 runner-up Gorman (4-6) – which is coming off a 68-0 loss to Gordon (10-0) Friday – in the bi-district round of the playoffs at Gorman at 7 p.m. Friday.

Zephyr 41, Gustine 30

GUSTINE – The Zephyr Bulldogs secured their fourth consecutive district championship with a 41-30 road victory over the Gustine Tigers in the 13-A Division II finale for both squads Friday night.

For the second game in a row, Zephyr (9-1, 4-0) rallied from an early deficit as Gustine (6-3, 2-2) struck first for a 6-0 lead before Chayden Woodcock – who rushed for 208 yards for the Bulldogs – scored the first of his three touchdowns on the ground from 3 yards out.

The Bulldogs ended the game with 370 yards, including 277 on the ground, while Gustine generated 245 yards – 147 rushing and 98 passing. Neither team committed a turnover.

Along with Woodcock’s performance, Ethan Prochaska passed for 66 yards and a pair of touchdowns – 30 yards to Bauer Blair and 5 yards to Ryan Glosson. Reid Hamm pulled down a 31-yard reception as well, while Woodcock caught a 27-yard pass from Jetson Gowin. CJ Byers also rushed for 46 yards for the Bulldogs.

Defensively, Gowin led the Bulldogs with 14 tackles trailed by Byers with 12 and Glosson with 10.

Next week, Zephyr kicks off playoff action at 7 p.m. Thursday in Priddy against District 14-runner up Evant (5-5), coming off a 59-8 loss to Oglesby (9-1).

Blanket 52, Sidney 8

SIDNEY – The Blanket Tigers on Friday night secured the second playoff seed from District 13-A Division II, and a second straight trip to the playoffs with a 52-8 road victory over the Sidney Eagles.

Blanket (8-2, 3-1) finished with 310 yards of total offense – 218 rushing and 92 passing – against the Sidney (2-8, 0-4) defense.

Mason Beck rushed for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns, passed for 51 yards and another score, and caught a 6-yard pass. Brian Shannon threw for 41 yards and two scores, and also grabbed a 6-yard scoring reception. Karter Keel caught five passes for 61 yards with two trips to the end zone. Alex Valdez contributed 33 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Defensively for the Tigers, Ethan Tomme registered 11 tackles followed by Beck with 10 tackles and an interception, Valdez with eight tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown, Keel with seven tackles, and Shannon with six and an interception.

Next week, Blanket faces District 14 champion Oglesby (9-1) – a 59-8 winner over Evant (5-5) Friday – in the bi-district round of the playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday in Priddy.

Richland Springs 75, Lohn 0

LOHN – The Class A Division II No. 3 Richland Springs Coyotes will carry a nine-game win streak into the playoffs as they completed an undefeated run through District 15 competition with a 75-0 victory at Lohn Thursday night.

The Coyotes improved to 9-1 on the season and 4-0 in league play, while Lohn ended the year with a 3-7 record and 0-4 district mark.

This article will be updated when stats from Richland Springs are available.

Next week, Richland Springs opens postseason action against District 16 runner-up Calvert (4-5), which fell to Cherokee (9-1) by a 64-16 count Friday night. The Coyotes’ bi-district playoff game will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Blum.

Goldthwaite 40, Mart 14

MART – The Goldthwaite Eagles locked up the No. 3 playoff seed from District 10-2A Division II, as for the second year in a row head coach Andy Howard’s squad trounced the Mart Panthers, 40-14, in the regular season finale.

Goldthwaite (7-3, 5-2) compiled 388 yards of total offense, including 287 through the air, with one turnover, while Mart (5-5, 4-3) mustered 191 yards – 131 rushing and 60 passing – but turned over the ball six times.

Blake Howard connected on 10 of 17 passes for 287 yards and four touchdowns – including 82, 68 and 44 yards completions to Aidyn Lee, who finished with five grabs for 203 yards. Talen Gardner added a 6-yard scoring reception and finished with two catches for 20 yards.

Landry Sanderson rushed for 94 yards and a 2-yard score for the Eagles, while Casen Wiedebusch hauled in a 63-yard reception.

Next week, Goldthwaite opens the playoffs with a first-round rematch as they battle District 9 runner-up Maud (5-5) at 7 p.m. Friday at Ennis.

Cross Plains 39, Winters 8

WINTERS – The Cross Plains Buffaloes punched their postseason ticket and clinched the fourth seed out of District 7-2A Division II with a 39-8 road triumph over the Winters Blizzards Friday night.

Trailing 8-7 after one quarter, Cross Plains (4-6, 2-3) outscored Winters (2-8, 0-5) by a 26-0 count in the second period to take control of the contest.

The Buffaloes finished with 409 yards of total offense – 360 rushing and 49 passing – with a pair of turnovers, while the Blizzards generated 152 yards – including 105 on the ground – with four turnovers.

Kye Schuman rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns for Cross Plains, along with 80 yards and two scores from Tyler Mackey. Kevin Hopkins tacked on 42 yards and Landry Savell contributed 41 on the ground.

Through the air, Savell connected on 2 of 3 passes for 49 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown to Rylen Reed, and a 29-yard toss to Mackey.

Defensively for the Buffaloes, Mackey and Colt Sanderson led the team with six tackles each followed by William Albrecht with five and Jesse Bradford with four. Brandan Jones intercepted a pair of passes for Cross Plains, while Mackey and Savell each picked off one as well.

Next week, Cross Plains draws District 8 champion and second-ranked Muenster (8-2), fresh off 59-0 victory over Chico (1-9), in the opening round of the playoffs at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mineral Wells.

Comanche 43, Clyde 42

COMANCHE – The Comanche Indians ended their season on a winning note and avoided a sub .500 overall record as they knocked off the playoff-bound Clyde Bulldogs, 43-42, in Friday’s final contest of the 2025 campaign.

Behind a balanced attack of 459 yards – 233 rushing and 226 passing – Comanche (5-5, 2-3) was able to reach the end zone six times against Clyde (7-3, 3-2).

Zaden Tello rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, while Ladanian Smith chipped in 78 yards.

Through the air, Cooper Welch completed 15 of 20 attempts for 226 yards with three scoring tosses and only one pick.

Leading receivers were CT Buford with nine catches for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Adrian Reyes with two receptions for 52 yards with a trip to the end zone, Fernando Patino with two grabs for 32 yards, and Dallas Gillette with a pair of catches totaling 15 yards.

Defensively for the Indians, Patino led the way with 11 tackles followed by Brady Gaines with eight and a fumble recovery, and Tello with seven tackles and a fumble recovery as well.

Mason 22, San Saba 0

MASON – The San Saba Armadillos missed out on a chance to earn a share of the District 14-A Division I football championship, and will instead head into the playoffs as the league’s third seed following Friday’s 22-0 loss to Mason.

San Saba (6-4, 3-2) managed just 85 total yards against Mason (7-3, 5-0), with 66 coming on the ground and 19 via air.

Jason Everett rushed for 35 yards, while Luke Tharp added 24 on the ground and threw a 19-yard pass to Cash Bryant. Graden Lebow accounted for the Armadillos other 7 rushing yards.

Defensively, Melvin Umble notched 12 tackles followed by 11 from Everett and 10 from Lebow, who recovered a fumble. Kaylub Roberts also pounced on a loose ball, to go along with three tackles.

Next week, San Saba opens postseason play against District 13 runner-up Rosebud-Lott (8-2), which was defeated 21-18 by Crawford (9-1) to end the regular season, at 7 p.m. Friday at Manor.

Lometa 49, Santa Anna 0

LOMETA – The Santa Anna Mountaineers’ 2025 football campaign came to an end Friday night with a 49-0 road loss to the District 14-A Division I rival Lometa Hornets.

Santa Anna (3-7, 0-3) produced 126 total yards – 67 rushing and 59 passing – against Lometa (5-5, 1-2).

Brock Brown completed 9 of 22 passes for 59 yards with one interception, as Jordan Diggs caught five passes for 22 yards, Eddie York added two grabs for 25 yards, and Jeremiah Davilla finished with two catches for 12 yards.

On the ground, Jayden Gibson picked up 29 yards trailed by Kain Watson with 20 and Brown with 8 yards.

Defensively, Brown logged 10 tackles followed by Tony Blaine with seven and Watson with six tackles and a fumble recovery.
