Jonathan Edward Smith, 67 years old, passed away on November 1, 2025. Jon was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 13, 1958. He married Carolyn Harris on September 5, 2009 at Oakwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth TX.

Jon loved guitars, from building and selling them to finger style picking. He would spend hours watching Eric Clapton and other musicians to learn their songs and play himself. He was a creative man, always finding something to make. Jon enjoyed working on glass etchings, photo shop projects, and taking videos of the things or people most important to him.

Jon was known for his excellent work ethic, dedicated to his job at Lockheed in Fort Worth for 13 years, then at Fed-Ex in Fort Worth for 20 years. Even after they moved to Brownwood Jon worked at Brookshire’s for 2 years.

He was a man devoted to Jesus, his wife, family, friends, and his sweet dogs. Jon showed his love of his wife and Jesus when they sang in church together on many Sundays. Every single month he bought his wife flowers on the 5th and the 17th to represent two of his favorite days, the day he met Carolyn and the day they said “I do.” He knew he loved her from the moment he saw her, remembering that day all the way down to what she wore. Jon’s devotion to his wife didn’t stop in those small moments, he showed how often he thought about her in everything he did. There was not a person who would know Jon and not love him. He extended that devotion and love for his wife to her daughter and granddaughter, treating Tammy and Kirsten like they were biologically his own. He was a kind, thoughtful, and loving human being to all those who encountered him. Jon will be forever missed by his wife, family, and his friends.

Jonathan is survived by his wife Carolyn Harris of Brownwood, TX; daughter Tammy Wheeler of Grandview, TX; granddaughter Kirsten Lefebvre of Fort Worth, TX; sister Charlotte Johnson of Andalusia, AL and brother Ron Smith of Hillsboro, TX.

He was preceded in death by his father Melvin Edward Smith, mother Lola Nevada Smith and brother Gary Smith.
