The Texas Department of Public Safety on Monday released the following information regarding a two-vehicle accident on US 377 South, near the intersection of FM 45, that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Coleman male.
According to the preliminary DPS report, the accident occurred at 2:44 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 at U.S. Highway 377 milepost 432.
A 2024 Freightliner truck tractor, towing a 1993 Monon semi-trailer, was traveling south on U.S. 377 at milepost 432, cresting a grade. A 2017 GMC pickup truck was accelerating while traveling up a grade in wet and rainy roadway conditions. The driver of the pickup lost control, driving off the right side of the roadway. The driver attempted to steer back toward the roadway and induced the pickup truck into a skid, traveling across both southbound lanes into the northbound lanes, striking the Freightliner. The pickup caught fire after the impact with the Freightliner, and the driver was pinned inside.
The DPS identified 18-year-old Brayden Lynn Baldwin of Coleman as the deceased victim of the accident. Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman is in charge of arrangements for Brayden Lynn Baldwin.
