MAY – The Class A Division I No. 3 May Tigers set up a showdown in the final week of the regular season for the District 14 championship thanks to their 56-8 home victory over Lometa Friday night.
May (8-1, 2-0) received 170 rushing yards and three touchdowns, a 25-yard passing touchdown and a 16-yard receiving touchdown from Lane Goodson. Kobey Morris added a 50-yard rushing touchdown and a 16-yard scoring toss, Cayson Dail threw for 51 yards and a touchdown, Brody Stice finished with 31 yards receiving and reached the end zone twice, and Jackson Lusk recorded 45 yards in receptions and scored on a 9-yard run. Mickey Scheriger also chipped in 22 yards rushing.
Defensively against Lometa (4-5, 0-2), the Tigers were led by Kayden Psencik with five tackles, along with four each from Kaden Watkins, Goodson and Lusk, three from Morris, and two apiece from Scheriger and Maddix Raffel.
The Tigers will visit Jonesboro (4-5, 2-0), which picked up a 51-6 victory over Santa Anna (3-6, 0-2) Friday night, in a game that will determine the district champion and the league’s second and final playoff seed.

Zephyr 54, Sidney 20
ZEPHYR – The Zephyr Bulldogs secured no worse than a share of a fourth consecutive district championship with a 54-20 victory over the Sidney Eagles in Friday’s home finale.
Trailing Sidney (2-7, 0-4) by a 14-0 count after one quarter, Zephyr (8-1, 3-0) stormed from behind to grab a 30-20 lead by halftime, then outscored the Eagles 24-0 over the final two quarters.
Zephyr amassed 347 yards of total offense – 275 rushing and 72 passing – and overcame three turnovers.
Chayden Woodcock rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns, while Jetson Gowin added 78 yards and two scores on the ground, and Quayde Heard rushed for 31 yards.
Through the air, Spencer Marwitz passed for 35 yards and a touchdown and Heard added 33 yards through the air with a scoring toss. Woodcock led the team with three receptions for 14 yards with a trip to the end zone, Gowin pulled two receptions for 39 yards and crossed the goal line once, and Wyatt Frank added an 11-yard catch.
Defensively, Gowin tallied 12 tackles for Zephyr followed by Troy Kubin and CJ Byers with eight apiece, and Ryan Glosson with seven tackles.
Stats for Sidney were not available.
The Bulldogs wrap up District 13 action next week at Gustine (7-2, 2-1), which is coming off a 54-8 win over Rising Star (4-5, 1-3) and will attempt to create a tie atop the final league standings.

Brookesmith 93, Lohn 87
BROOKESMITH – The Brookesmith Mustangs concluded their season with a 93-87 shootout victory over the Lohn Eagles in District 15-A Division II action.
Addy Heard rushed for 326 yards and nine touchdowns for the Mustangs and also returned a kick 60 yards for his 10th touchdown of the contest.
Jace Julien contributed 45 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and caught a 50-yard scoring reception from Austin Loyd, who also returned a kick 45 yards for six points for Brookesmith.
Defensively, Heard and Aryn Ribble led the team with 10 tackles apiece followed by seven each from Loyd and Julien, two each from Robert Eachus and Blake Loyd and one tackle from Levi Benson, who recovered a fumble, as did Ribble.
Brookesmith (4-6, 1-3) has its district bye next week, while Lohn (3-6, 0-3) hosts No. 3 Richland Springs (8-1, 3-0) following its 62-0 win over Rochelle (3-6, 2-1) Friday night.

Comanche 54, San Angelo TLCA 12
SAN ANGELO – The Comanche Indians tallied their first District 3-3A Division I victory of the season, knocking off the San Angelo TLCA Eagles, 54-12, Friday night.
Comanche (4-5, 1-3) amassed 328 yards – 179 rushing and 149 passing – against San Angelo TLCA (0-9, 0-4).
Cooper Welch completed 8 of 16 passes with a pair of touchdowns, as leading receivers included Fernando Patino with three for 96 yards, Dallas Gillete with two for 22 yards, CT Buford and Caden Carroll each with a 16-yard catch, and Damian Aguilar with a 9-yard reception.
On the ground, Ladanian Smith rushed for 91 yards, Elijah Ozuna added 53, Buford and Zaden Tello each tacked on 16 yards and Carroll rushed for 3 yards.
Defensively for Comanche, Aguilar recorded 11 tackles with a fumble recovery, followed by Tello with 10 tackles. Patino added seven tackles, and Buford intercepted a pass.
The Indians wrap up their season next week at Clyde (7-2, 3-1), which is coming off a 41-34 loss to Jim Ned (8-1, 4-0.

COLEMAN – The Coleman Bluecats snapped a seven-game losing streak and kept their playoff hopes alive with a 26-19 victory over the Ballinger Bearcats in Friday night’s home finale.
Coleman (2-7, 1-3) generated 397 yards of total offense – 311 rushing and 84 passing – with a pair of turnovers, while yielding 302 yards to Ballinger (3-6, 0-4), with 212 coming through the air with a pair of takeaways.
Paul Salas rushed for 235 yards and two touchdowns for Coleman, scoring on runs of 11 and 27 yards. Hunter Edington completed 5 of 10 passes for 84 yards with a 19-yard scoring toss to Micah Lackey, along with 9 rushing yards and a 1-yard touchdown carry.
Also on offense, Brayden Torres added 43 yards on the ground and two catches for 38 yards, and Braylon Stewart tacked on 26 rushing yards and grabbed two receptions for 27 yards.
Defensively for the Bluecats, Brady Elder logged nine tackles followed by Nathaniel Guerrero with eight, Gio Villanueva with six, and Corbin Rosales with four tackles.
Next week, Coleman visits Bangs (5-4, 2-2),which is coming off a 60-20 loss to De Leon (7-2, 4-0), needing a win to extend the season.

SAN SABA – The San Saba Armadillos put themselves in position to clinch a share of the District 14-A Division I championship in Week 11, thanks to Friday’s 34-0 triumph over Holland in the home finale.
San Saba (6-3, 3-1) rushed for all 361 of its offensive yards, as Luke Tharp contributed 171 yards and three touchdowns, Jason Everett notched 99 yards and crossed the goal line once, and Melvin Umble tacked on 59 yards with a trip to the end zone.
Defensively against Holland (1-8, 0-4), the Armadillos received 13 tackles from Everett, 11 from Kaylub Roberts, eight from Juan Patino, and six tackles each from Tharp and Clayton Meador. Jayden Aguirre recovered a fumble for the Armadillos’ lone takeaway.
Next week, San Saba visits Mason (6-3, 4-0), coming off a 45-13 win over Johnson City (4-5, 1-3), where a victory by the Armadillos would create a tie for the league championship.

GOLDTHWAITE – The Goldthwaite Eagles locked up a playoff berth in their home finale Friday night, pummeling Meridian by a 61-0 count.
Goldthwaite (6-3, 4-2) limited Meridian (1-8, 1-5) to 31 yards of total offense with a pair of turnovers, while the Eagles generated 296 yards – 201 on the ground and 95 through the air – without a turnover.
Owen Campbell rushed for 144 yards and four touchdown to pace the Goldthwaite offense, while Casen Wiedebusch tacked on a 57-yard scoring sprint.
Through the air, Blake Howard connected on 5 of 10 passes for 80 yards with three touchdowns – 25 yards to Slade Allen, 13 yards to Zachary Rodriguez, and 7 yards to Aidyn Lee, who finished with three grabs for 42 yards.
Next week, the Eagles visit Mart (5-4, 4-2), which is coming off a 42-7 victory over Frost (6-3, 3-3), as the two teams will clash to determine District 10-2A’s third and fourth playoff seeds.

RICHLAND SPRINGS – The Class A Division II No. 3 Richland Springs Coyotes added another district championship to their collection, clinching the District 15 crown with a 62-0 home victory over Rochelle.
Richland Springs (8-1, 3-0) finished with 224 yards – 137 on the ground and 87 through the air – against Rochelle (3-6, 2-1).
Billy Perry rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, passed for 42 yards and a touchdown, and caught two passes for 31 yards with another trip to the end zone. Ethan Deeds threw for 45 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 29 yards and another score. Cohen Ethridge chipped in 58 yards on the ground and crossed the goal line once, while catching a 14-yard pass as well. Layne Ward hauled in a 31-yard scoring reception, and Brice Roesler caught an 11-yard pass.
Defensively for the Coyotes, Ethridge led the way with 11 tackles followed by nine from Perry, and eight each from Ward and Rush Norris. Perry intercepted a pass and Deeds recovered a fumble.
The Coyotes conclude the regular season next week as they visit Lohn (3-6, 0-3), which dropped a 93-87 shootout to Brookesmith (4-6, 1-3) Friday night.

CROSS PLAINS – Playing a District 7-2A Division II co-leader for the second week in a row, the Cross Plains Buffaloes came up on the short end of a 43-18 decision against Hamlin Friday night.
Cross Plains (3-6, 1-3) manufactured 302 yards, including 291 rushing, with a pair of turnovers, while Hamlin (8-1, 4-0) finished with 508 yards – 328 on the ground and 180 through the air – without a turnover.
For the Buffaloes, Tyler Mackey rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns, Landry Savell added 76 yards and a score, Kye Schuman compiled 34 yards, and Kevin Hopkins tacked on 18 yards on the ground.
Through the air, Savell completed 1 of 12 passes for 12 yards with two interceptions, while Mackey grabbing the lone reception.
Defensively, Colt Sanderson recorded nine tackles for the Buffaloes followed by eight from Anson Long, seven from Mackey, and five each from Schuman and Brandan Jones.
Despite the loss, Cross Plains can clinch the district’s fourth and final playoff seed next week with a win at Winters (2-7, 0-4), which is coming off a 38-24 loss to Miles (2-7, 1-3).
