Brownwood Fire Department responds to fire call at Lucille + Mabel

At 6:55 a.m. Thursday, the Brownwood Fire Department responded to a call at Lucille + Mabel Kitchen and Libations located at 114 Center Avenue.

At the scene Thursday morning, Brownwood Fire Chief Eric Hicks stated the inside of the structure had received significant damage, but no further information was available at the time, as the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Lucille + Mabel shared the following information on Facebook Thursday afternoon:

“We are deeply saddened to say that Lucille + Mabel experienced a fire last night. No one was there so everyone is okay. However we will be closed indefinitely while we look at the best way to move forward. Thank you for all the love and support.”

Friday morning, the Brownwood Fire Department released the following details about the fire:

The Brownwood Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 114 Center Avenue in Brownwood Texas, upon arrival, crews were presented with a large amount of smoke throughout the entire building. A search of the building found no occupants inside. A fire was located in the kitchen area of the restaurant occupancy; fire crews were able to control the fire quickly with one hose line. The restaurant sustained extensive damage, with smoke damage noted throughout the entire building. No occupants or fire personnel suffered any injuries. The fire remains under investigation.

It took 25 minutes to get the fire under control.

The estimated damages total is $1.5 million.
