According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 4-year-old boy perished in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 5:35 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at the intersection of US Highway 84 and County Road 464 in Coleman County.

The preliminary report states a 2024 Nissan Versa passenger car, driven by 27-year-old Michelle Warden Callisto of Burnet, was traveling south on US 84 at an unsafe speed, given the wet roadway conditions. As a result, the driver veered off the roadway to the west and overturned, eventually coming to rest upright.

A 4-year-old rear passenger was ejected during the crash and, unfortunately, died. A 3-year-old rear passenger was not listed as injured in the DPS report, while the driver suffered minor injuries. Both male passengers were children of the driver, and were reportedly secured in child passenger safety seats.

This crash is under further investigation.
