Raymond “Ramon” Lara, age 72, of Brownwood, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 22, 2025. Visitation will be held Monday, October 27, at 6 PM with a rosary at 7 PM in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, October 28, at 10 AM at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood, with interment to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.

Ramon was born December 28, 1952 in Midland, Texas to Leonardo and Andrea Lara. He married the love of his life, Angelina Robles, on September 2, 1972 and the couple was blessed with two children.

Ramon worked in the oil field for many years in the early 70’s to late 80’s. Moved from West Texas to Stephenville in late 80’s and started working as a welder. He was good with his hands and worked as a welder all of his life. Raymond was a handyman of all trades. He retired at the age of 62 and spent his time with grandchildren. He was always ready to help anybody in need. Raymond also enjoyed building and inventing things. His family will attest to Ramon being the greatest husband, father and grandfather there ever was. He enjoyed fishing, reading books, talking about history, and spending time looking maps and globes, but spending time with his family and friends was the most important thing to him. Ramon had a big heart for animals and they loved him too.

Ramon is survived by his wife, Angelica Lara; son, Ramon Lara Jr.; daughter, Eloisa L. Salazar and husband Isaiah; grandsons, Ramon “Trey” Lara III, Joel S. Lara, Nikolis Salazar; brothers, Eulogio Lara and wife Ermelinda, Ignacio Lara and wife Francisca, Domingo Lara and wife Rosa Maria, Leonardo Lara and wife Maria del Rosario; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Ramon was preceded in death by both parents and two sisters, Catarina L. Lara and Gloria Lara.
