
STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball season reached its conclusion Friday at Stephenville, but not before the program earned its first league victories since 2021.
The Lady Lions dropped a 25-17, 21-25, 25-14, 25-22 decision to Stephenville and finished with a 16-19 overall record – three more wins than last season – and a 2-8 District 6-4A mark – snapping a 30-match district drought earlier this month – under the direction of first-year head coach Kristen Grimes.
Against Stephenville Friday, Hannah Deen recorded a team-high 13 kills followed by 12 from Aniah Hines, four by Demayha Hooker, three by Ashantia Green, two by Kaydence Chandler, and one each by Jentry Coalson and Maddi Scott.
Icess Hall distributed 23 assists while Coalson tallied eight, Scott finished with four, and Camryn Hopson was credited with one.
Hall, Coalson, and Scott served two aces apiece, and Chandler added one.
Defensively, Scott led the Lady Lions with 23 digs followed by Coalson with 12, Hall with nine, Hines with eight, Chandler and Lanie Johnson with seven apiece, Deen with six, Green with five, Addy Huerta with four, Hooker with two, and Gipson with one.
At the net, Hooker and Chandler finished with three blocks apiece, Gipson notched two, and Deen and Green logged one each.
