The Hill Country Youth Commercial Heifer Show and Sale returned to San Saba this October, bringing together young agriculturalists, local businesses, and ranching families from across 25 counties in the Texas. Hosted at Jordan Cattle Auction, the two-day event showcased the hard work and dedication of youth participants who spent months raising and preparing commercial heifers for show and sale.
From recordkeeping to interviews and a live auction, the program continues to offer a hands-on education in livestock management and business fundamentals. This year’s sale returned over $100,000 in premiums and scholarships to participating youth—an investment in the future of agriculture.
The event’s success was made possible by a network of generous supporters, including ranchers, volunteers, committee members, and agricultural lenders. Central Texas Farm Credit was honored to join other organizations such as Jordan Cattle Auction, Gillespie Veterinary Center, Capital Farm Credit, and San Saba’s First Baptist Church in celebrating the next generation of producers.
As the final heifers exited the ring and handshakes marked the close of another successful sale, the legacy of the Hill Country Youth Commercial Heifer Show and Sale was unmistakable—an event rooted in over a decade of tradition, built to educate and empower youth through hands-on livestock experience.
