ARLINGTON – The Blanket Tigers earned a fourth-place team finish at the Harold Patterson Sports Complex Monday to clinch the final team berth from Region III-A for the UIL Class A cross country state championships in Round Rock Oct. 3.

The Tigers will be joined three local girls – Rising Star’s Laynee Allgood (13:11.46), who placed third; Sidney’s Kallin Woodley (13:16.59), who placed fourth; and May’s Jordyn Gerhardt (14:24.2), who placed 15th, as the top 10 individuals not a qualify team also advanced to state.

Blanket generated 171 points, which left the Tigers behind Cumby Miller Grove (39), Garner (60) and Saltillo (110), and just ahead of fifth-place Avery (176).

Competing for the Tigers were Alex Valdes (8th, 18:36.8), Leo Valdes (10th, 19:07.6), Wyatt Meadow (16th, 19:29.1), Karter Keel (42nd, 21:06.8), and Kade Russell (128th, 28:04.4).

The May Lady Tigers came in seventh in the final team standings, as along with Gerhardt competitors included Chloe Lord (22nd place, 14:38.35), Aubree Gerhardt (27th place, 15:48.65), Angie Medina (81st place, 16:45.49), Lauren Hicks (93rd place, 17:22.4), and McKenna Landes (117th, 19:12.0)

The Class A girls will compete at 10:55 a.m. Halloween morning, followed by the Class A boys at 11:25 a.m. at the state meet.
