Avilio Gonzales, 72, of San Saba, Texas, passed away on October 14, 2025, in Austin, Texas. A Rosary for Avilio will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba. A Visitation will follow the Rosary and will be from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba. A Funeral Mass for Avilio will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Saba and will be officiated by Father Joe Polisetty. Interment will take place at the San Saba City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.

Avilio was born on June 19, 1953, to Mike and Martha Gonzales. In his younger years, Avilio traveled near and far for work as a sheep shearer, taking pride in his craft and the people he met along the way. He also dedicated many years to seasonal pecan work — always working hard.

Avilio was known by many names — “dad”“Popo,” “Papa Bill” Wild Bill,” “Shiney,” and “The Outlaw” — each one reflecting a different piece of him. In his younger days, he loved to dance and was never one to pass up a good song, whether it was in English or Spanish. Music was one of his many joys.

He loved being surrounded by his family, kids, grandkids, and friends. He was happiest at a cookout, always the first to ask, “When’s the next barbecue?” He also had a few simple pleasures that brought him daily joy — his scratch-off tickets, his morning/afternoon coffee, it didn’t matter what time of the day it was he like to drink coffee. Also cheering for his favorite football teams was something he kept up with. Though he rooted for the Packers and the Jets, in his later years, he proudly followed Aaron Rodgers to the Pittsburgh Steelers — proving his loyalty and love for the game never faded.
He left a mark on everyone who knew him.

Avilio is survived by his three sons: Avilio “Billy” Gonzales and wife Amber of San Saba, Texas; Eric Alonzo and wife Raeven of Burleson, Texas; and Bryant Leon and wife Whitney of Marble Falls, Texas; his five daughters, Michelle Cline and husband Jamey of Corsicana, Texas; Jennifer Vasquez and husband Paul of Corsicana, Texas; Brittany Gonzales of San Saba, Texas; Bianca Perez and husband Xavier of Fort Worth, Texas; and Briana Gonzales and husband Dalton of Eureka, Texas; one sister, Alicia Perez and husband Cruz of San Saba, Texas; one brother, David Gonzales of San Saba, Texas; a sister-in-law, Helen Gonzales of San Saba, Texas; as well as numerous grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles — all of whom loved him deeply and will cherish his memory forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Martha Gonzales of San Saba, Texas, two brothers Albert Gonzales and Mario Gonzales of San Saba, Texas

On behalf of our family; we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your condolences and presence at the funeral service.
