Lady Lions volleyball upended by district front-runner, 19th-ranked Brock

Demayha Hooker (#8) led Brownwood (15-17, 1-6), which next hosts Glen Rose at 4:30 p.m. Friday, with eight kills and added one block Tuesday night

BROCK – The Brownwood Lady Lions were unable to slow down District 6-4A volleyball front-runner Brock, as the No. 19 Lady Eagles notched a 25-16, 25-9, 25-21 victory Tuesday night.

Demayha Hooker led Brownwood with eight kills followed by five each from Hannah Deen and Kaydence Chandler, and three from Aniah Hines.

Icess Hall tallied 13 assists while Jentry Coalson contributed seven and Bellah Stokes was credited with one.

The lone ace for Brownwood was served by Lanie Johnson.

Defensively, Johnson also paced the Lady Lions with eight digs trailed by five each from Coalson and Deen, four from Hines, two apiece from Hall, Hooker, Chandler and Maddi Scott, and one each by Grace Sparks and Camryn Gipson.

At the net, Hines tallied a pair of blocks while Chandler and Hooker each recorded one.

The Lady Lions (15-17, 1-6) are back in action at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday as they play host to Glen Rose.
