BALLINGER – The Bangs Dragons earned their fourth consecutive victory, posted their third shutout in a row, and picked up the initial district win of the Colton Buzzard coaching era in dominant fashion Friday night, easing past the Ballinger Bearcats, 48-0, in the 5-2A Division I opener for both squads

Bangs (4-2, 1-0), which last yielded a point on Sept. 12, led by a 15-0 count after one quarter, 28-0 at halftime, and 41-0 through three periods against a Ballinger (3-3, 0-1) squad that represented the district in the postseason a year ago.

The Dragons, who failed to record a district victory in 2024, generated 416 yards of total offense – 309 on the ground and 107 through the air – in the 2025 league opener.

Cason Tidwell again led the charge with 185 rushing yards and four touchdowns followed by 58 yards from Jaxon Duncan, 38 yards and a trip to the end zone by Eliseo Rivas, 24 yards from Dayton Vrana and 4 yards by quarterback Hunter Withers.

Withers also completed five passes for 101 yards as Connor Bible led the way with two grabs for 64 yards and a touchdown. Jayden Robinson hauled in a 29-yard reception, Tidwell chipped in an 11-yard catch, and Rivas grabbed a 3-yard pass. Robinson also returned a Ballinger kick for a touchdown.

Next week, Bangs travels to District 5-2A Division I rival Hico (4-2, 0-1), which lost to De Leon (4-2, 1-0) by a 56-27 count Friday nigh
