Zachariah L. Bond and Esther Lopez

Story by Trisha Stutz, CTC Coordinator of Marketing and Communications

Brownwood Police Department welcomes two graduates of the Central Texas College Police Academy’s Bravo Class, Zachariah L. Bond and Esther Lopez, marking the beginning of their law enforcement careers.

The Bravo Class completed CTC’s 24-week Basic Peace Officer Course, which blends classroom instruction, skills-based training, and real-world simulations to prepare cadets for success across Texas. Licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), the academy is recognized statewide for its comprehensive curriculum and commitment to character-driven leadership.

For Bond, the academy’s rigorous coursework tested his discipline and focus, but also strengthened his confidence in the field.

“The most challenging part of the academy was the rigorous testing and nonstop studying it required,” Bond said. “It takes extreme focus and discipline, but the skills we learned, like defensive tactics and situational awareness, are exactly what we need to succeed and make a difference in this line of work.”

Lieutenant Clifton Osborne, CTC Police Academy training coordinator, praised the new officers for their growth and perseverance.

“They came into the program eager to learn and pushed themselves to meet every challenge,” Osborne said. “Now they’re stepping into roles where their training and character will make an immediate impact.”

During the graduation ceremony, CTC Chancellor Dr. Michele J. Carter presented certificates and Chancellor’s Coins to each cadet, while Texas A&M University-Central Texas Police Chief Andrew Flores delivered the keynote address, encouraging the new officers to serve with integrity and resilience.

The academy’s curriculum emphasizes integrity, communication, and practical readiness, giving graduates the skills to serve their communities with confidence and care.

The next Basic Peace Officer Course begins January 12, 2026, with applications open through December 19, 2025.
