
BROCK – The Brownwood Lady Lions and Lions both qualified for the Region I-4A cross country meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Oct. 21 based on their performances at the District 6-4A meet here Monday.
The Lady Lions finished with 57 points, trailing only Brock (36), and finishing ahead of Stephenville (62), Glen Rose (82) and Mineral Wells (138). The top three teams and top 10 individuals move on to regionals.
Leading the charge for the Lady Lions was Rebekkah Delgado in 4th place (12:28.94) followed by Lyndi Biasiolli in 6th place (12:36.28), Jade Morin in 12th place (12:55.06), Destiny Sharp in 17th place (13:17.36), Ailean Palacios in 18th place (13:19.15), Haylee Adkins in 19th place (13:21.39), and Joclyn Salazar in 32nd place (14:46.39).
Meanwhile, the Lions earned a third-place finish with 56 points, which trailed Mineral Wells (42) and Stephenville (44), but placed ahead of Glen Rose (99) and Brock (109).
Bennett Windham paced the Lions with a 2nd-place effort of 16:51.18 trailed by Juston Burt in 8th place (17:52.38), Carter Massey in 12th place (18:07.15), Reagun Munsugu in 14th place (18:23.53), Brayden Musick in 20th place (18:52.73), Adrian Skrhak in 31st place (19:38.47), and Hayden Mair in 32nd place (19:46.49).
In JV action, both the Lions and Lady Lions came in third place in the final team standings as the girls tallied 64 points, which trailed Stephenville (33) and Brock (35), while the boys amassed 81 points, which left them behind Mineral Wells (19) and Stephenville (51).
Running for the JV girls were Kynlee Jefferson (3rd, 14:15.77), Riley Abernathy (10th, 14:55.56), Montanna Ramsey (13th, 15:14:28), Jaidyn Hope (18th, 15:32.24), Icess Hall (21st, 15:57.35), Jaycee Morton (22nd, 15:59.99), Lanie Johnson (23rd, 16:03.4), Nylah Hall (36th, 17:18.68), Brooklyn Bouldin (17:43.65), and Natalie Dillard (42nd, 18:20.88).
Competing for the JV boys were Valente Cardenas (5th, 19:34.54), Jonathan Skrhak (13th, 20:42.59), Gio Diaz (20:52.08), Jonathan Solano (20th, 21:10.63), Cannon Calvert (38th, 24:50.67), Kip Havens (40th, 25:04.06), and Santiago Alvizo (50th, 26:36.14).
