Bennie Gale Watson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Coleman County Medical Center in Coleman, Texas. Born on March 29, 1933, in Eastland County, Texas, Bennie lived a life rich in dedication, love for family, and passion for the great outdoors.

Bennie graduated from Desdemona High School in 1951 and went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, returning to oil field work in Graham upon completion of his military service. Bennie married Janie Marie Robertson in 1955 and had two children. Shortly after the children were born, they moved home to Desdemona where he worked as a peanut farmer and water well driller.

In 1973, he moved to Coleman, where he established Bennie’s Well Service, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. In 1989, Bennie met Donna Hail Alexander, and they were married in 1995.

Bennie found joy in many outdoor activities, especially fishing and hunting. He was known for firing up the grill to cook for family and friends, creating cherished memories over shared meals. Those who knew him could often spot Bennie on his tractor, diligently mowing and shredding the fields, ensuring they were always meticulous and beautiful—a reflection of his dedication not only to his work but to his surroundings.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Watson of Coleman; his children, Deb Hamilton and husband Jerry of Tyler, and Dale Watson and wife Betty of Coleman; and two stepchildren, Leigh Ann Qualia and husband Michael of Del Rio, and Tera Robison and husband Coby of Coleman. Bennie adored his grandchildren, Rachel Scott of Woodward, Oklahoma, Kelly Hunt and Madison of Diana, Chase Watson and wife Casie of Coleman, Kash Wood of Coleman, Paige Qualia of Del Rio, and Owen Robison of Coleman, along with seven great-grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Darlivon “Tody” Zink of Stephenville.

Bennie is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Otis Watson and Violet White Watson, and his brother, Dalton Watson. His presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Dr. Chas Shira, pastor at First Baptist Church, officiating. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dale Watson, Jerry Hamilton, Michael Qualia, and Coby Robison.

Memorials are requested with gratitude to Coleman County Medical Center, 310 S. Pecos Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
