BROOKESMITH – The Brookesmith Mustangs were unable to avoid consecutive losses as the Bluff Dale Bobcats handed out a 70-6 defeat Thursday night.

In a game that started 42 minutes late due to a lack of officials, Brookesmith (2-3) finished with just 19 yards of total offense – 23 rushing yards on 22 carries, and -4 passing yards as the Mustangs completed 3 of 7 attempts. Bluff Dale (4-1) also forced five Brookesmith turnovers.

Addy Heard rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries for Brookesmith, scoring the only points for the Mustangs on a 41-yard gallop with 1:07 left in the first quarter, which trimmed the deficit at the time to 35-6.

Austin Loyd caught two passes for the Mustangs, Blake Loyd added a 5-yard reception, and Jace Julien carried the ball for Brookesmith as well.

Bluff Dale generated 283 yards of total offense, with 256 and six touchdowns coming on the ground on just 12 carries.

Kaden Wentworth rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns, Alex Saucedo added 49 yards and two trips to the end zone, Josiah Rogers ran for 31 yards and scored once, and Jace Coffman reeled off a 59-yard touchdown run.

Through the air, Austin Saucedo hurled a 31-yard scoring toss to Alex Saucedo, who also scored on a 35-yard fumble return for the Bobcats.

Next week, the Mustangs travel to Olfen (0-3), which is off this week and most recently fell to Lohn, 19-16, on Sept. 19.
