
May 60, Newcastle 42
MAY – In a battle of Class A Division I Top 10 programs, the No. 3 May Tigers handed the No. 8 Newcastle Bobcats their first loss of the season, 60-42, Friday night.
May (3-1) was sparked offensively by Kobey Morris, who compiled 164 rushing yards and four touchdowns with 17 passing yards, along with Lane Goodson, who rushed for 146 yards and four touchdowns, while also passing for 63 yards against the Newcastle (3-1) defense.
Kayden Psencik added 73 yards on the ground, Kaden Watkins finished with 48 yards receiving, Jackson Lusk added 20 yards receiving, Cayson Dail tallied 12 receiving yards, and Brody Stice generated 46 all-purpose yards.
Defensively for the Tigers, Mikey Scheriger, Goodson and Psencik notched six tackles apiece along with five and a fumble recovery from Watkins, four tackles from Morris, three from Lusk and a pair of tackles by J.D. Harrell.
Next week, the Tigers host Iredell (2-2), which downed Gorman, 71-36, Friday night.

Zephyr 64, Lingleville 0
LINGLEVILLE – The Zephyr Bulldogs kept their unblemished record intact with their third shutout victory of the season, 64-0 over the Lingleville Cardinals Friday night.
Zephyr (4-0), which has allowed just 10 points through four games, limited Lingleville (0-4) to negative -16 yards of total offense – 14 through the air and minus -30 on the ground – with a pair of takeaways, including an interception return for a touchdown by CJ Byers.
Offensively, the Bulldogs manufactured 208 yards – 109 rushing and 99 passing.
Chayden Woodcock ran for 83 yards and three touchdowns while Ethan Prochaska passed for 86 yards and three scores. Byers caught a 46-yard touchdown and added 10 yards and a score on the ground, while Jetson Gowin hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass and Ryan Glosson pulled down a 5-yard scoring toss.
Prochaska and Woodcock led Zephyr with five tackles apiece and Gowin also intercepted a pass.
Next week, the Bulldogs visit Class A Division II No. 8 Strawn (3-1), which defeated Bryson, 56-8, Friday night.

Richland Springs 83, Bryan St. Joseph 14
BRYAN – The Class A Division II No. 3 Richland Springs Coyotes notched their third win in a row behind their biggest offensive output of 2025 thus far in an 83-14 decision at Bryan St. Joseph Friday.
Richland Springs (3-1) generated 313 yards of total offense – 177 passing and 136 rushing – while the defense forced four Bryan St. Joseph (1-3) turnovers.
Cohen Ethridge completed 3 of 3 passes for 101 yards and two touchdown while rushing for 73 yards and two more scores. Evan Deeds was 2 of 2 through the air for 55 yards with a scoring toss, and Ethan Deeds connected on his lone pass attempt for a 21-yard touchdown.
Eli Hutchins caught two passes for 78 yards, both touchdowns, while Brice Roesler added two grabs for 44 yards and scored once. Trendon Vogel pulled down a 10-yard scoring reception a well, and Rush Norris caught a 45-yard pass.
On the ground, Billy Perry tacked on 36 yards and two touchdowns and Vogel contributed 26 yards with a trip to the end zone.
Defensively, Norris registered 10 tackles and recovered a fumble, Perry notched six tackles and pounced on a loose ball, and Ethridge and Evan Deeds both logged four tackles and picked off a pass.
Next week, the Coyotes host Lubbock West Texas Homeschool (2-2), which is coming off a 30-18 victory over Lazbuddie.

Mullin 46, Moran 0
MULLIN – The Mullin Bulldogs secured their first victory of 2025 and the Ethan Smart coaching era as they blanked the Moran Bulldogs, 46-0, Friday night.
Mullin (1-3) racked up 217 yards of total offense – 185 rushing and 32 passing – while the defense recovered a pair a Moran (0-4) fumble.
Aaron Porter finished with 70 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, while Toby Kuhn passed for 32 yards, with a 23-yard touchdown to Jaidan Langford. Vash Langford rushed for 16 yards and a touchdown, Johnathan Armendarez tacked on a 6-yard touchdown run, and Isaiah Pledger scored on a 1-yard carry. Chandler Moreno added 33 yards on the ground and a 9-yard catch, and Mani Morales finished with 23 yards rushing.
Defensively, Morales led Mullin with 6.5 tackles and a fumble recovery, Moreno logged three tackles, and Lucas Cook tallied 1.5 tackles and forced a fumble.
Next week, Mullin travels to Ranger (2-2), which dropped a 75-46 decision to Three Way Friday night.

Comanche 36, Tolar 33
COMANCHE – In a see-saw battle, the Comanche Indians withstood the Tolar Rattlers for a 36-33 home victory Friday night, the second win in a row for head coach Jake Escobar’s squad.
Tied at 7 after one period and 14 at halftime, Comanche (2-2) edged in front of
Tolar (2-2) by a 21-20 count after three quarters, and held on for the win down the stretch as extra points proved to be the difference.
Comanche amassed 447 yards of total offense – 318 on the ground and 129 through the air.
Ladanian Smith rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns, Zaden Tello tacked on 103 yards and a score, and quarterback Cooper Welch contributed 74 yards on the ground with a trip to the end zone.
Through the air, Welch connected on 9 of 16 passes for 129 yards as Adrian Reyes grabbed three passes for 61 yards, CT Buford caught two for 20, Smith hauled in two for 3 yards, and Tello (27 yards) and Fernando Patino (13) added receptions as well.
Defensively for the Indians, Tello recorded 13 tackles with four behind the line of scrimmage, followed by Smith with 11 tackles, two for loss and a sack, Ky Keeter with eight tackles, and Buford added seven tackles and intercepted two passes.
Next week, Comanche heads to Early (1-3), which is looking to snap a three-game skid after falling to Peaster, 52-14, Friday night.

San Saba 56, Katy St. John XXIII 7
KATY – The San Saba Armadillos’ 480-mile round trip Friday night proved successful, as a 56-7 triumph over Katy St. John XXIII snapped a two-game skid for head coach Andreas Aguirre’s team.
San Saba (2-2) produced 491 yards of total offense against Katy St. John (0-4), with 463 of those yards coming on the ground.
Luke Tharp rushed for 296 yards and four touchdowns and also completed 2 of 6 passes for 25 yards, while Jason Everett tacked on 44 yards rushing and two scores, Clayton Meador added 45 yards on the ground and a touchdown, and Jayden Aguirre contributed 34 yards and reached the end zone once.
Brandon Gonzales caught a 24-yard pass for the Armadillos while Everett added a 3-yard catch and Cash Bryant caught a 1-yard pass.
Defensively for the Armadillos, Danny English’s 12 tackles were a team-high trailed by Meador with 11, Kolton Pierce with seven, and Melvin Umble with six. Tharp and Juan Patino recovered fumbles for San Saba’s two defensive takeaways.
Next week, San Saba heads to Hamilton (3-1), which picked up a 42-7 victory over Clifton Friday night.

LUEDERS – The Panther Creek Panthers rebounded from their first loss of the season against state-ranked Water Valley by pummeling the Lueders-Avoca Raiders, 47-0, Friday night.
Panther Creek (3-1) produced 242 total yards – 153 rushing and 89 through the air – while holding Lueders-Avoca (1-3) to negative -25 total yards – 34 passing and minus -59 rushing.
Caleb Storey led the Panthers with 127 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, while Adan Wyatt tacked on 34 rushing yards and a score.
Through the air, Caleb Hale connected on 3 of 9 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown and Storey added a 27-yard scoring toss on his lone attempt.
Blayde Wilber finished with two catches for 57 yards with a touchdown, and Storey hauled in a 22-yard touchdown pass.
Defensively, Storey, Hale and Kutter Cannon recovered fumbles for the Panthers. Storey led the team with five tackles followed by four tackles, including three for loss, by Trever Brooks.
Next week, Panther Creek visits Paint Creek (3-1), which knocked off Harrold, 65-44, Friday night.

Paint Rock 70, Brookesmith 20
BROOKESMITH – The Brookesmith Mustangs were denied a homecoming victory Friday night as the Paint Rock Indians spoiled the party, 70-20.
Brookesmith (2-2) received 180 rushing yards and a touchdown from Addy Heard, who also passed for 30 yards and another score. Jase Julien caught two touchdown passes totaling 55 yards, threw for 20 yards and rushed for 18 yards.
Defensively, Robert Eachus collected six tackles for the Mustangs and intercepted a Paint Rock (3-1) pass, while Heard also finished with six tackles. Julien added five tackles while Austin Loyd, Adyn Ribble and Aden Bates tallied four tackles, and Taylor Jarvis notched a pair.
The Mustangs will next host Bluff Dale (3-1), coming off a 51-6 win over Sidney, at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Cisco 23, Coleman 14
CISCO – The Coleman Bluecats were denied for a third consecutive Friday night as the Cisco Loboes dished out a 23-14 non-district defeat.
Coleman (1-3) came up short despite outgaining Cisco (3-1) in total yards, 242 to 135. The Bluecats passed for 142 yards and rushed for 100 with a pair of turnovers, while the Loboes picked up 88 yards on the ground and 47 through the air.
Paul Salas rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown for Coleman, while Hunter Edington connected on 9 of 17 passes for 142 yards and a scoring toss of 14 yards to Jason Strickland.
Micah Lackey and Jayden Smith both finished with two receptions for 40 yards, Kyle Chambers added two grabs for 26 yards and Braylen Stewart contributed a 32-yard carry.
Defensively for the Bluecats, Lackey, Darren Hurtado, Easton Meador and Gio Villanueva led the way with 10 tackles, followed by nine from Salas.
Next week, Coleman faces Collinsville (3-1), a 42-14 winner over Wolfe City Friday, in a neutral site non-district contest at Breckenridge.

MERKEL – The Cross Plains Buffaloes dropped their second decision in a row Friday night, as the Merkel Badgers rolled to a 66-6 victory.
Cross Plains (1-3) managed 211 yards of total offense – 191 rushing and 20 passing – with four turnovers, while Merkel (3-1) chalked up 452 yards behind a balanced attack of 227 air yards and 225 ground yards, and just one turnover.
Tyler Mackey rushed for 107 yards and the Buffalo touchdown while Kye Schuman chipped in 55 yards on the ground and 20 yards passing. Rylan Reed finished with two grabs for 20 yards, Kevin Hopkins added 19 yards rushing and Jaedon Bradford contributed 17 yards on the ground.
Defensively for Cross Plains, Jessey Bradford notched 10 tackles with one for loss, along with four from Schuman, three from Jaedon Bradford and Landry Savell intercepted a pass.
Next week, Cross Plains ventures to Sterling City (0-4), which suffered a 46-19 loss to Christoval Friday night.

Hermleigh 56, Rising Star 8
RISING STAR – The Rising Star Wildcats were dealt a second consecutive defeat Friday night, falling to the Hermleigh Cardinals, 56-8.
Rising Star (2-2) was led offensively by JV Kelly, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown, caught two passes for 41 yards and passed for 12 yards. Chance Wells added 25 yards rushing and three catches for 17 yards, Anthony Pollard passed for 52 yards and rushed for 7, and Leland Schenk caught a 5-yard pas.
Defensively against Hermleigh (3-1), the Wildcats received three tackles each from Kelly and Kason McGinn, two apiece from Schenk and Juakeen Froese, and one each by Wells and Pollard.
Next week, Rising Star hosts Gorman (1-3), coming off a 71-36 loss to Iredell, for homecoming on Saturday night.
