
ABILENE – Playing in their final match prior to the start of District 6-4A volleyball competition, the Brownwood Lady Lions surpassed their 2024 win total with a four-set 25-21, 25-23, 17-25, 25-21 victory at 5A Abilene Cooper Friday.
Brownwood (14-11) was led offensively by Aniah Hines with 13 kills, Hannah Deen with 10, Demayha Hooker with seven, Kaydence Chandler and Jentry Coalson with five apiece, and Icess Hall with one.
Hall also dished out 34 assists and served two aces while Maddi Scott also contributed a pair of aces and Chandler and Sara Stubblefield added one apiece.
On the defensive end, Scott led the way with 21 digs while Grace Sparks logged 10, trailed by Hall and Stubblefield with five each, Hooker and Lanie Johnson with four apiece, Hines with three, and Coalson with two.
At the net, Hooker’s three blocks were a team-best while Hines added two and Deen and Chandler each contributed one.
The Lady Lions open District 6-4A competition Tuesday at Graham.
