
COLORADO CITY – In their final match prior to the start of District 5-2A competition, the Bangs Lady Dragons volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to Colorado City Saturday.
Bangs won the first two sets, 25-22, 25-20, then Colorado City answered with victories of 25-22, 25-14, and 18-16 to steal the match.
The Lady Dragons received 20 kills from Ashlynn Sliger, seven from Cameryn Harmon, and two each from Justice Baker and Stormy Stringer.
Baker dished out 20 assists while Cricket Caulkins contributed four.
Cloey Petty served six aces followed by four each from Baker and Adalynne Stephens, and one by Sliger.
Defensively, Petty recorded 41 digs trailed by Baker with 19, Harmon with 17, Stephens with 15, eight from Kylee Byler, five each from Sliger and Jasmine Lewis, and two apiece by Caulkins and Kynlee White.
At the net, Sliger logged four blocks followed by three from Harmon.
The Lady Dragons (6-18) will host Hamilton in the district opener at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
