The Brookesmith Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) hosted its 25th+ Annual Fish Fry and Dessert Auction on Saturday evening at the Brookesmith Community Center, drawing more than 250 attendees and raising over $20,000 in support of local emergency services. This long-standing tradition has become a staple event for Brookesmith, Brookesmith ISD, and the surrounding communities, bringing people together for good food, fellowship, and a shared purpose: supporting their local volunteer fire department. The event featured a full meal catered by Boondocks of Brady, Texas, including fried fish, chicken strips, and traditional sides. Guests were invited to contribute by donation, and the community’s response was overwhelmingly positive.
One of the highlights of the evening was the dessert auction, which generated a substantial portion of the funds raised. Among the standout items was a quilt donated by Theresa Bomstad McIntosh, which sold for $500 during the auction. “We are incredibly grateful for the turnout and support,” said a representative from the BVFD. “Events like this not only help us raise critical funds, but they also remind us just how strong and generous our community really is.” Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used directly to update protective gear and communication equipment, as well as to maintain the department’s current fleet of trucks, ensuring reliable emergency response capabilities.
The BVFD extended its appreciation to all who attended, donated, or volunteered, and offered a special thanks to Boondocks for their excellent catering services.
