Chris Sutton, a Family Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of health care experience is providing a new option for healthcare in Brownwood and the surrounding area–Direct Primary Care

Chris Sutton, a Family Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of health care experience is providing a new option for healthcare in Brownwood and the surrounding area–Direct Primary Care.

Sutton’s private practice, Hometown Family Clinic, is located in Centennial Point at 2222 Highway 377 South, Suite 14.

Direct Primary Care is a healthcare model where patients pay a flat, monthly fee directly to their primary care provider without the need for traditional third-party insurance for this type of care. This model fosters enhanced patient-provider relationships through extended visits, direct communication, and personalized care, often at a more affordable and transparent cost than traditional fee-for-service systems.

Sutton further explains, “My practice is a cash-based model that does not accept insurance. My prices are transparent. You get exactly what you pay for, with no hidden fees. When you sign up for a membership, you pay a flat rate which includes unlimited office visits, as well as same or next-day appointments. With a membership you get access to my private number, because health care does not always wait for office hours.”

Sutton has been a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2016, graduating from the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston.

“I graduated from Howard Payne University in 2010,” Sutton says, “and from there decided to pursue a career in nursing, graduating from Covenant School of Nursing in Lubbock in 2012 and obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree from Lubbock Christian University in 2013 prior to pursuing my Family Nurse Practitioner education and board certification.”

Sutton and his wife, Dr. Laci Sutton, who is the Dean of the School of Nursing at Howard Payne University, moved back to his hometown of Brownwood in 2016. “We have loved coming back to the amazing area of Brownwood and Early, where we get to enjoy raising our three boys close to family and friends while serving God and our community.”

Hometown Family Clinic monthly Membership Plans include the Adult Plan (Ages 18-64) at $75, The Pediatric Plan (Ages 3 months to 17 years) at $45, The Family Plan (Up to 4 members) at $179, The Married Couples Plan at $100, and The College Student Plan at $50.

For non-members, acute visits for illness, colds, minor injuries, etc. are $85 per visit, and a variety of physicals are offered including school sports physicals ($25), non-DOT physicals ($65), and DOT physicals ($75).

“All fees cover anything done in-office–procedures, rapid tests, or injections are all included” Sutton says. “Health care should be simple. You do not have to go through multiple people to reach me. There is no billing department or management. You can get in touch with your provider when you need.”

“Direct Primary Care can be for anyone–if you do not have medical insurance, if you have a high-deductible plan, or just want a different option. My goal is to serve others, and to provide exceptional healthcare that is affordable, accessible, and not rushed.”

Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to noon Friday, and you can reach Hometown Family Clinic at 325-327-8026 or
