Marilynn Bock Jackson, 88, passed away on September 6, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10:00am at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Howard Payne University.
Marilynn was born on August 22, 1937 Jefferson County, Texas. She graduated in in 1973 with a Bachelors in Clinical Psychology from Howard Payne University (HPU) then went on to graduate with a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Abilene Christian College (ACU) in 1976.
She married William Donald Jackson on June 21, 1957. They were blessed with two children Stephen and Laurie.
Marilynn was devoted to her family. She loved watching westerns on TV. She was an avid reader, especially western, religious, or books with cats solving mysteries. She loved playing cards or dominoes with her friends and family and could be a quiet yet cunning competitor. She loved gardening and was very knowledgeable of plants. She was very devoted to her best friend, Susie, her cat, the sweetest cat anyone will ever know.
She was an active Sunday school teacher for First Baptist Church, Vicksburg Retirement Community, and Sunset Mission, all in Brownwood.
Marilynn was a licensed Psychological Associate, a Certified Social Worker, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
In addition to teaching psychology courses at HPU and Ranger Junior College, she served at HPU as Director of Counseling and Testing, Director of Placement and as Acting Chair of the Psychology Department.
Marilynn was a skilled counselor and was known to “help those who were hopeless cases.” She provided counseling services for persons referred by area churches and served as counselor for First Baptist Church Brownwood and First Baptist Church San Antonio. She never charged for her counseling services.
She coordinated the Health Kit Ministry for Calvary Baptist Church Brownwood. She served on the board and was on the task force that organized Good Samaritan Ministries. She was the chairman of Human Rights committee of the Bethphage Ministry for mentally disabled. She was on the area United Way board and served as chairman for two years. She founded a Bereaved Parents support group, volunteered and was President of Volunteers at Brown County Regional Hospital. She was a regular speaker at Christian Women’s Job Corp.
Marilynn is survived by her son and his wife, Stephen and Patty Jackson, her daughter and her husband, Laurie and Jack Sellers, her granddaughter and her husband, Ashley and Josh Constantino, and her great grandsons, Remi and Trent Constantino. Oh, and her cat, Susie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Donald Jackson, her brother, Leonard Bock, and her parents, Andrew and Linnie Bock.
